They are closed. Even though Open Table still let's you make reservation and asks you to confirm it. Ridiculous in this day and age to have just turn off reservations while they are closed.

When we arrived with friends from Las Vegas, a sign on the door stated that they were closed for renovations and remodeling....we had confirmed reservations through Open Table....very, very, disappointing. If we had been notified, we would have chosen another Mexican restaurant in SLC...poor customer service from Nino Viejo and Open Table

I booked Nino Viejo online using Open Table. When I arrived with my party the restaurant was (and had been for a while) closed for construction. Getting into anywhere else at a last minute was impossible. Open Table is not real reliable.

Restaurant closing. Hostess was rude. Said we needed to wait for table despite having a reservation. Told us bar was full when it wasn't so we ignored her and had one drink before leaving without dinner.

Initially we were excited to go to this restaurant but when we arrived there seemed to be a miscommunication in regards to who was our server. We didn't get a server for about 20 or so minutes. The food came out quickly, but wished that the server paid a bit more attention to us. It seemed like there were plenty of servers but they played busy, tables were left uncleared for 20+ minutes after patrons left. The staff wasn't too friendly, and noticed when a table next to ours asked for something bc their server was nowhere to be found, the server seemed bothered to assist. The decor was cute and on trend but just disappointed by the overall experience. Would not go back.

This is one of our favorite go-to places for Mexican food. The service is great, and the menu has a very diverse selection, all of which is good, at least that which we have tried so far. My wife's favorite is the Carne Asada fries and my favorite thus far is the tacos, Al Pastor.

We were seated with a reservation. After 15 minutes of waiting at our table, we decided to leave. No drinks, chips, or any acknowledgment from the staff walking by us. This is the second time this has happened. This restaurant is either severely understaffed or poorly managed, or both.

The service was very slow but the food was great. They were out of many items. The entrees are overpriced but the brunch and small plates were perfect. The French toast and chilaquilles were amazing!

Atmosphere and service was great, and to be expected. Nice spot if you have kids—they can play in the amazing courtyard with a playset, and grassy area. The Jalapeño Margaritas were good. And the poblano/queso dip appetizer was ON POINT! However the breakfast burrito was okay...nothing special The chilaquiles was very sub-par. (No beans, no meat/chorizo-nothing, only one egg) no cilantro or queso fresco as garnish toppings. The tomatillo sauce was to tart and uninspired. They just gave you a mound of chips, slightly tossed in the sauce, and just melted the chihuahua cheese. At the same time im aware this is NOT a breakfast focused place, so the breakfast menu was small too. With that said, i still want to come back to try their lunch and dinners.

We were disappointed because we have loved this place in the past. I’m not sure what happened but our experience this time was not good. Everything was dirty, the table we were sat at had salsa and crumbs all over it, the menus were dirty, the floor had food all over and the tables next to us was a mess. Our waitress was very nice, but when I asked if she could wipe down our table she seemed a little offended and placed the tray she brought our food out on our table- which was also disgusting. The drinks were good and our food was ok. I would’ve ordered another drink but she didn’t check on us at all, so I didn’t have a chance to. She was running around like they were slammed but it was dead, she was the only one working on our side of the restaurant and there were only 3 tables she was helping. We asked for our check. Got the check, but she didn’t come back to run it for 15 minutes to run it. Probably won’t be coming back just because of how gross it was and how difficult it was to get our waitress’ help.

The food was AMAZING. It is officially our new favorite restaurant. We did feel like our service was a little slow and the music was too loud, but the food made up for all of that. It's seriously delicious.

As others said the decor and setting is nice but not nice enough to warrant an extra star. As expensive as the food is, you'd expect it to at least taste good. Everything was bland. I paid 24 dollar for four tacos. Carne asada tacos came on a plate with nothing else, a few little pieces of meat and a few chunks of feta cheese. They tasted even more boring than they looked. Got my food while my wife and son waited about another 15 minutes for theirs. Wife got the enchiladas and said they tasted like dog food. I tried a bite and say it was more like fish food. Either way couldn't even choke them down. Sent them back and they replaced her meal with a side of fries, which they still charged us $6 for. I'll say the fries were really good. So were the sangrias. So maybe if you wanna go for a drink and some fries have at it. Otherwise might as well just give me your $200 and I'll kick you in the junk to save you some time! Also service was slow and our waitress seemed annoyed to even be there.

Wow. Lemme start off by saying this place was amazing! The vegan tacos were a hit... I'm a meat lover but I felt like trying something different and let me tell ya... you won't be disappointed! Definitely a return visit in my future!

The server was sweet as can be. The drinks were good. The queso was ok but unfortunately the main dishes were terrible. We ordered chicken enchiladas and flautas. The chicken was chewy and the flavor was less than mediocre on both. We will not be going back.

OK, start to finish. We came in on a busy Friday night because all the other restaurants were 1.5 hour wait time. We got to hostess desk and asked for a seat outside. They got our info and said if it would only be a few minutes so they could clean off a table. By the time they had text us back it was close to 15 and 3 new tables were sat outside and they had given away our outside table. We waited a few more minutes so they could rush and clean off a table for us. The hostesses seemed lost, possibly a first night for the 2 of them? Our waitress seemed to be way too busy and we were a bother. We ordered two appetizers and after getting our drinks and chips & salsa she took our order. The salsa was fresh and very good, we also asked for the mango salsa and that was good also. Well, 20 minutes later one appetizer (Carne asada fries which were good but a little dry & cold) came out with our meals! She said the tamales weren't out yet and asked if we wanted to cancel them so we did. My husband ordered tacos the were dipped in a broth and he said they were very plain, he ended up dumping have the salsa on them. I got the enchilada pueblos which are $35 lobster enchiladas. They came out very plain and the presentation was terrible. The first bite and I thought I got shrimp, I pulled it out and I'm pretty sure it was uncooked lobster! It was stringy, chewy, tasteless, and clear. I asked my waitress and she said that is what it was supposed to look like. All in all it was a very expensive night with us just filling up on the black beans, chips & salsa, and cold Carne asada fries. The waitress took 30 minutes to bring us our check, she was much more attentive to the table of young men she was serving than us.I can't recommend this place at all, the service, the dangerous chef serving uncooked food, and the prices are better left alone.
