Large hearty portions of delicious food. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Service was attentive and friendly. Handsoap smelled amazing would absolutely wash hands here again. Chillie is flavorful but more spicy than used to.

Delicious! Best scones in Utah. Delightful staff and service. We ate the wedge sandwich (excellent) hasbrowns and scone. This is a place you don’t want to miss.

Its very easy to see this place is the most popular lunch spot in town. When we got there every table was full, but we were politely told to wait on the second floor for just a couple minutes. We were seated and got our food pretty quick, and boy was it good. Although everything was pretty expensive (that's what happens when you have no competition), the food was very delicious. The fries weren't very tasteful, but other than that I have no complaints. For being so busy, the employees were friendly and concise!
Would recommend.

The restaurant had us looking at real estate in the area just to be able to eat here more often! The atmosphere is terrific with beautiful live plants and art, wood tables and the two lovely ladies serving that day that made it very friendly and homey. Everything we tried was delicious from the bacon cheeseburger and house made rock chips to the perfectly fried scone but when I say that the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes was the best we had ever had in our lives - including mom's homemade (just don't tell her I said so) I am not over exaggerating at all. Perfectly fried crispy/crunchy breading, tender meat and buttery creamy mashed potatoes. We will definitely be looking for excuses to be back here!

This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. The food was beyond disappointing—think cafeteria food, but somehow worse. We ordered the fish and chips with a salad and the chicken fried steak with soup. The soup was completely inedible, and the salad was literally just a pile of romaine with a few sad toppings thrown on. Both entrées were bland, poorly prepared, and definitely not worth finishing.

For two meals that neither of us could stomach, the bill came to over $60, which made the whole experience feel like a total rip-off. Overpriced, low-quality, and absolutely not worth it. Save your money and go anywhere else.

Not to mention my husband and I woke up with terrible stomach aches.

limited choices, and a local so this review SHOULD change often, but sadly it doesn't. Great food, but customer service is in short supply. Customer service matters. You can fix a bad mean, but you can't fix a poor experience. There should AT THE LEAST be eye contact and a smile. I'd rather go somewhere friendly.

This restaurant is a delightful gem nestled in a historical part of Helper. The town exudes charm from a bygone era, which adds to the overall experience. Inside, the service is not just kind but also incredibly attentive. The menu offers a fantastic selection, and the rock chips are exceptional. I savored a delicious steak sandwich that exceeded my expectations. The place is impeccably clean and tidy, creating a fantastic vibe that enhances your visit.

This was a nice surprise as we were traveling through the area. I had a NY strip and give it a 5+. Wife has the prime rib and got the 'seared and seasoned' option, which had a bit too much seasoning so just be aware. Great service and all.

Took a road trip from Orem UT. in my 68 Firebird to visit Helper main st. Decided to try Balance Rock Eatery, and was not disappointed. Staff is most excellent, and the food is fantastic. We will be making this a common road trip from now on.

On our way to Moab, we stopped to check out Helper. It’s a cute town with a few interesting shops and galleries. Hungry for lunch, we ended up here — literally the only place in town that was serving at the time. The restaurant is in an old building (like the rest on Main Street) with big front windows. Inside, it’s large and spacious, with a wide-open area in the middle and a second-level balcony that looks down on the lower floor. Lots of history in the space.

There were several other groups dining when we arrived. It was reasonably quiet and easy to have a conversation. We were greeted right away and took a small table. After getting some water, we ordered beverages and food: a BLT sandwich and the Steak Quesadilla. It took a while for our food to arrive, but the server explained there had been a mix-up and they had to remake our order. When it came out, everything was fresh and hot. The quesadilla was nicely grilled, and the steak had a lot of fat (which I like, though others may not). The BLT came on thick bread, so it was best eaten open-faced.

After the food arrived, we didn’t see much of our server again. There wasn’t any check-in on how the food was until the bill came. Service was efficient, but not especially friendly. We also weren’t told, but later discovered, that you don’t pay the server — there’s a cashier at the back near the kitchen where you settle your bill.

Overall, a decent lunch, but not a place I’d put on my “come back to” list.

This place holds a special place in our hearts. It was the first restaurant we took each of our children to, and it’s where we gather every week to spend quality family time. Cindy and Clay are truly wonderful people who have built an amazing restaurant, supported by the absolute best staff.

We have eaten here twice now on 2 different trips to Utah & they have both been fantastic!!
Both times I ordered a side of bacon, side of hashbrowns (not the shredded ones), and a scone and it is VERY filling and delicious!!
