Nielsen's Frozen Custard

Chelsea in Layton was the best!! I had a big group of kids and she was so sweet and patient with our orders. Thanks Chelsea.

Love their ice cream but was there on a Friday night in the dining room and took about 5 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. Bunch of young kids wandering around and 2-3 of them looking like they weren’t even doing anything besides joking around and glancing at us occasionally. Customer service was lacking big time. Appeared there was no manager or a manager that wasn’t doing their job.

Excellent place to get a treat. Great customer service from all of the employees.

I have been coming to Nielsen’s for over 20 years. I have always had a great experience up until the last few months at the Layton location. Extremely slow service, even when not busy, custard that is runny and not firm, as the product has always been. Not sure what is going on, but it is so disappointing. It is reaching a point that I may quit coming. They have been great to give a refund, but when you want custard and get runny ice cream like substance it is disappointing to the palate.

Stuff is so good, I mean how can you go wrong with 40% cream in a yummy dairy dessert. Snickers with vanilla custard….the bomb. Ask for Luke, dude does it right.

I really like the ice cream at the place, but they’ve got to figure out how to be more efficient when delivering orders. I waited 15 minutes for the car ahead of me to get their order, and all I got was some ice cream, and it wasn’t busy. Other places have cars pull forward if their orders are going to take awhile and then have the employee walk the food out to them.

Edit: Burger and Chicken sandwich were slimey and flavorless. Felt like they were warmed in the microwave. Burger actually tasted bad. Service wasn't very friendly. We'll go back for custard and fries but not for food.

Previous 5 star: We love their custard and grilled cheese. Not a quick drive-thru. We've loved it for 30 years

The best ice cream, ever! Hands down. It's so smooth and the perfect thickness. I would love to know how to make ice cream this good. If you have never been, you should definitely give it a try. I bet you will think it's the best ice cream you have ever had.

They serve Liesel’s German potato salad and cabbage salad! Liesel used to run a true German Delikatessen here in the 1990s, nice to see her legacy still here.
