First thing, my meatpies are always tepid warm and never nice and hot when served. First disappointment.
Next thing. I was here a few weeks back when I was serviced by the Samoan gentleman and apparently he took my order inaccurately. It would've been fine, but what disappointed me was that there was a white woman who they took her order wrong, they told her she could get a different item to correct their mistake. For ME, an islander, I didn't get the same treatment.
The guy who took my order, he brought me my incomplete order and told me himself (oh, I took your order wrong...someone is fixing it and will give you what you're missing). So I ate what I had and waited like 30mins and NOTHING. I walked up to the counter asking for my item, it turns out that no one was working on anything (which he told me in that moment that he didnt charge me for it). If no one was working on anything, he could've just been truthful and told me that so I wouldn't wait so long...I was just so disappointed. The boss lady found out soon after, and she did offer to fix it but at that point, I was bummed that nothing was done and I would have to wait longer, so I turned down the offer and just left. Just ugh...
I just feel this day that they treated the non-PIs better than their own people and it's really messed up to see that. I'm sure that's not true for everyone, but I felt that this day. I don't think I will be coming back here...

Everything is made fresh from scratch and you can taste the difference. The meat pies and sausage rolls are out of this world good! If ur anywhere near this place u have to try it. I can't say enough good things about the people and the food.

Food was okay sausage was bland and a touch under cooked fries were good fresh and crunchy. Should have given some sauce for the sausage. Friendly service

The reason why for such low stars is I specifically ordered a Steak and Mushroom pie - i was given a chicken pot pot… exceedingly disappointing and frustrating that they didnt have clear marks to indicate which pie was which.
New butter chicken needs more chicken in it but absolutely spot on flavor.

Great tasting Samoan bakery. $7 per pie is a bit expensive but it tasted great! The staff told me the two most authentic Samoan dishes are the pork bun and the Corn beef meat puff pastry. The puff pastry (with corn beef and taro leaves inside) is made well: crispy, but not burnt or too dense or oily. The bun of the pork bun has a unique chewy texture similar to chinese pork bun but have more texture in a good way. The quality of the pork in the pork bun is superb!! I can’t attest to the food’s authenticity but to a novice it tastes exotic and tasted really good! (Separately I saw numerous Samoans coming in as customers which I guess means the food is authentic!)
Glad to expand my palette to try something different. It is a little expensive for me to go everyday, coz I love bargain hunting but would love to go back again!! The staff are friendly. Inside seating are super comfy and the decor is beautiful. This can be a good hangout place for the neighborhood.

Great selection - our faves are the mushroom/steak and mince/cheese pies and koko samoa dessert or lamingtons. However an authentic NZ pie never uses orange cheese only white so I was bummed out about that. Thats the only reason why I couldnt give it 5 stars being a kiwi myself. The sausage rolls are ok not the exact same taste but pretty close. If I cant get family to send me some overseas, I get em here to fix my craving of home.

We got the sausage roll and the steak and cheese pie and both were great! The guy at the front was nice and answered any questions we had. We will definitely come back here!

We have been loyal customers of Sagato for some time and have always enjoyed the food. However, our last two visits were extremely disappointing and raise serious concerns about the customer experience.
On one occasion, we arrived at 6:30 p.m. only to be told that several key menu items, including fish and chips and sausages, were already unavailable, despite posted hours until 7 p.m. It left the impression that staff were simply eager to close early.
When we returned earlier on another evening, hoping for a better experience, we instead encountered an employee at the front who seemed disengaged and inconvenienced by customers. During our wait, we watched as multiple guests received the same dismissive treatment. One couple mentioned it was their first time visiting, and rather than being welcomed or given a recommendation, they were met with silence.
Most troubling, another customer raised what seemed to be a simple question or concern. Instead of addressing it professionally, the employee escalated the situation by repeatedly telling the customer to “please leave” — in full view of at least four other guests. The interaction was unnecessarily confrontational, and it drove away not only that customer but also another family who chose to walk out without ordering after witnessing the exchange.
In total, five potential or returning customers were lost in just one evening due to the poor handling of basic customer service. This type of behavior is not only unprofessional but damaging to Sagato’s reputation, particularly in today’s economy where dining out is a treat and people expect a positive experience along with their meal.
Sagato has a strong product and has earned a loyal following, but frontline staff can make or break a business. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures training and accountability are put in place. Customers should leave remembering the food and hospitality — not the discomfort of being treated poorly.
Meat pies, very good. Teenager at the counter, pretty clueless.
Coffee… don’t do it!!! Worst cup of coffee I have ever tried, looked like iced tea. I gave it back (with no refund) you can get a better cup at 7-11
