I have gone to multiple Tsunami restaurants, our favorite is the Lehi location. Today we were closer to the Union Heights location and thought it would be the same experience but it wasn't. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and they made us wait 15 minutes until after our reservation. The place wasn't full so I didn't understand why they made us wait. We always order the same thing so we placed our full order at the start and the calamari was like 15 pieces and usually it's a full plate. Then we got our drinks and our sushi rolls. The Dragon Roll didn't taste the same. My husband asked for the miso soup and teriyaki sauce for his steak, usually the miso comes first put the waiter never asked until we requested. My husband was waiting for the teriyaki sauce to eat his steak and it took another 15-20 minutes to get it. We usually order the coconut dessert but decided we shouldn't since it's not the same. Overall we were disappointed and will not return to this location. Again, the place wasn't full and the food quality was not the same to the Lehi, Sandy locations.

It was a great atmosphere. We had a big group but they were able to accommodate our two tables. Great service and great food!

We hadn't been to Tsunami for a long time but knew it was excellent! Our dinner was excellent, combination of sushis, noodles and beef. It was a wonderful birthday dinner.

We had family in town. Went to this location and had a good time. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was comfortable. Would go again.

Perhaps because we were upstairs and a little early, but the quiet made for lovely dinner conversations.

I visit this place frequently and typically have a good experiences. My last two visits have been disappointing. The kids avocado rolls came out with mashed brown and black avocado. The Jenny roll was foul odor and taste of warm old salmon. It took 1 hour to get our food and it was not busy. I expressed concern to waitress but she said thanks for letting her know with no solution. They charged me for the rancid rolls we didn't eat. I frequent this restaurant for almost weekly business lunches, but not after this experience.

Been here many times over the years and never had a bad experience. Tonight the food was excellent, as usual, but the kitchen/sushi chefs were excruciatingly slow...took an hour from ordering for us to get four sushi rolls...no special requests and restaurant was full but no diners waiting for tables...we'll give them another try in a month or so. If they can't do better then we won't be going back...too bad. They have been a reliable Salt Lake Valley spot for some years now...hope this is not a downward trend

Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. Upon entering, the host greeted us with, ‘How can I help you today?’ without asking for the number of guests, which felt impersonal. We were then seated on the second level without being consulted about our seating preference, despite the area being unoccupied. Shortly after, another party was seated directly next to us, which compromised our comfort given the ample available space.

The food finally came, it failed to meet expectations the flavors were bland, and the quality did not justify the high prices.

While the restaurant’s décor was appealing, the combination of impersonal greetings, seating arrangements, delayed service, and subpar food quality made for a disappointing visit. Regrettably, I cannot recommend it and do not plan to return.

You can find innovative rolls and drinks here. The service is good and fast. The hosts are pleasant. Sushi is great. The location is a little dingy so 4 stars.

Good food, good service. My only complaint is there is no nutritional information online or in the restaurant. I asked the hostess if she could just find out what the sodium content was in one specific entree? After she left to ask the chef, she returned stating they do not disclose any nutritional info about their food. Not helpful with guests that have dietary restrictions.

Dietary restrictions: No info is available.

I’ve been disappointed with Tsunami lately. The food has not been as good and the sushi does not taste fresh. The wait is always ridiculous. The wait and price does not match the taste and service. Sadly this place has been on the decline.

The lighting was terrible on the side we sat on. Like overhead spotlights. Water tasted chemically like something needed to be cleaned. Service was nice. Food did take quite awhile, took around 45 minutes for 2 rolls and some tempura veggies. I had the fire breathing dragon and it was pretty room temp by the time it got to us. Not the best, but not the worst experience.

Everything was great and they accommodated our table change. One thing to fix, the restrooms need cleaning and remodeling.

Know it was valentines but waitress forgot parts of our order and we didn't want to wait any longer for our rolls.

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Tsunami. I called ahead to arrange a special surprise for my son and his girlfriend’s one-year anniversary dinner. Since his girlfriend doesn’t live in the state, I wanted to make the night memorable by paying for their meal in advance and requesting a small anniversary dessert to make it extra special.

I spoke with a staff member who took my credit card information and assured me it would be handled. I gave them the names and everything seemed set. However, after their dinner, I noticed my son didn’t mention anything about it. That’s not like him, so I decided to call and check.

When I spoke to the general manager, they immediately remembered the conversation and admitted they had dropped the ball. They offered to switch the charge from my son’s card to mine, but that completely missed the point—the whole purpose was for it to be a surprise. The moment had already passed, and the experience I wanted to create for them was ruined.

I’ve never had an issue with Tsunami’s food, and I’ve always enjoyed dining there, but this experience was a huge letdown. If you’re considering planning a surprise celebration, birthday, or special occasion here, I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe this was a one-time mistake, but it was a simple request that could have easily been executed with basic communication. Instead, they failed, and unfortunately, they’ve lost me as a customer.

For some, this might not seem like a big deal, but to me, it was. Moments like these matter, and businesses should follow through when they commit to something.
