Moab Coffee Roasters is one of those places that just feels good to be in. It’s the kind of coffee shop you walk into and immediately relax a little. The vibe is super calm and welcoming—never hectic or pretentious—making it a perfect stop whether you’re starting your day or taking a break from exploring Moab.

One of the coolest things about this spot is that they roast their own beans. You can really tell they care about what they’re doing, because the coffee is consistently solid no matter what you order. Everything tastes fresh and well made without being overcomplicated. On top of that, they also have chocolate and ice cream, which is a fun bonus, and everything is priced really reasonably. It’s nice being able to treat yourself without feeling like you’re overspending.

The shop itself has more than just great drinks. They sell handmade mugs that are actually really cool and unique—definitely not the generic stuff you see everywhere. Their shirts and jackets are also worth checking out; they’re stylish, comfortable, and feel more like something you’d actually want to wear rather than just tourist merch.

What really makes Moab Coffee Roasters stand out, though, is the staff. Everyone is genuinely kind, friendly, and easy to talk to, which adds a lot to the overall experience. It’s the kind of place you end up coming back to—not just for the coffee, but for the atmosphere and the people too.

“Yuck” is a versatile word—short, punchy, and universally understood. It is also, regrettably, the most accurate summary of my visit to Moab Coffee Roasters.

I stopped in last weekend hoping for two simple miracles: a properly made morning latte and something with enough protein to count as breakfast. Yes, I’ll admit it—I’m a creature of habit. I lean on Starbucks consistency and, like any frequent traveler, I’ve learned to order in their slightly arcane dialect. My usual is a triple grande latte with one pump of vanilla. When I wander into an indie shop, I translate as clearly as possible, offering details like a hostage negotiator: strength, size, sweetness, temperature—please, just meet me halfway.

Moab Coffee Roasters did not meet me halfway. They met me at a completely different address.

What arrived was a quad latte with five pumps of vanilla, served at the kind of lukewarm temperature usually reserved for sad bathwater. It wasn’t a latte so much as a melted vanilla candle that had once heard a rumor about espresso.

Food-wise, the protein situation was even bleaker. Unless you’re deeply committed to breakfast burritos—and apparently willing to get there before the rooster clocks in—your options are… hope. Burritos were the lone substantial choice, and by 10 a.m. on a Saturday, they were already gone. That left me staring down the pastry case like it was a nutritional prank: sugar, sugar, and more sugar—none of it remotely qualified as “fuel.”

And then the wait. I ordered, and waited, and waited some more—over ten minutes for a drink that tasted like someone misunderstood both math and vanilla. The shop wasn’t slammed; there were maybe three other customers. Yet somehow time slowed, my patience evaporated, and my latte dreams curdled.

In a town with genuinely good coffee options, this one is an easy skip. Keep driving. Moab has better cups—and you deserve them.

The affogato's are delightful 🤌🏼. If you like your coffee bitter, then I would recommend the affogato with vanilla gelato. If you like your coffee a little sweeter or richer, then I would recommend the cinnamon brown sugar butter gelato. SO good.
