I love this Resturant but tonight I was very disappointed. Their food is sooo good but what in the world is going on with the refried beans. They were so dry and impossible to eat. Don't they know that if you make homemade beans you can add more liquid to prevent dry beans? They were horrible. They were big blobs of dry dry dry beans . Really ! What's going on?

Extremely mediocre, no margaritas and filled with locals and not the kind I tend to choose to spend my time with from a religious/cultural perspective, will NOT be returning.......this is Utah your better off getting tacos from a a truck in a random parking lot.

If you're not from ogden,it's hard to find. Wasn't happy with the restroom. It works. Now, the chips and salsa amazing, surprise they gave us cheese. That was a 1st The staff very helpful, there menu small for a Mexican restaurant, but they keep it simple. The food comes out hot, beans and rice decent. Food was really good Will be back

This has been a local favorite for well over a decade! Great food and friendly service. Even when busy we still get our food in a very reasonable time. The nachos supreme are amazing!!!!! Heaping piles of meat, cheese and guacamole. It is an appetizer and it's HUGE!If you plan to eat this for your main meal, it can feed 3-5 people easily. - so be warned, it's a lot of food. But it's absolutely delicious and worth getting!Their chimichanga, burritos and other main dishes also taste fantastic.

My dad said he used to come here when he was in high school thirty years ago. The decor is cool, the servers were very nice, and the food was yummy. They gave us sopapillas and they were delicious. My dad always gets the fried shrimp platter. I got the chimichangas. Things on the menu were around $10-15 which is very affordable for a dine-in restaurant!

This is the best place for a friendly place and great atmosphere for Mexican food with entertainment with the staff. Very genuine staff members who have been working there for many years. You want classic this is the place , come early cuz it's a busy place . If you're uptight and need to fed with a certain fork and spoon then don't come here , stay home , get someone else to serve you if this bothers you... love this place and it deserves better then 3 starts . No one is perfect but they will give you their best if you don't like your food , or make it right for sure. I don't work here or own this place but I am a true customer.

The service and food were really good. The restaurant itself seems quaint but if you take a walk around it's really big! The food took between 10-15 minutes to come out but it was fresh and HOT. I had El Matador and the wifey had cheese enchiladas. I appreciated the classic rice and beans that didn't have a weird twist to them that you get other places. Overall it was just what I was looking for.

Pretty bland tasting Mexican food. Decor is nice but needs a good dusting/ cleaning. Waitress was decent. I won't try again.

The atmosphere and inside was very clean but the food was not that great. Won't go back, there are plenty of better Mexican restaurants out there. I'll keep trying others till I find the one.

The place is clean and actually nice looking. The service was good and everything was great. EXCEPT for the food! Very American Mexican food. The rice was undercooked and the beans tasted like from a can. Everything is literally a burrito smothered with cheese. Not worth the price. Honest opinion.

I've been coming here for years. The owners and staff are some of the nicest people ever. The food is amazing too. I never leave feeling hungry. I recommend the sopa dots!! They are delicious

We ordered takeout for my mom's birthday. 3 chicken burrito meals enchilada style and 1 taco salad. This is the 2nd time we ordered take out from them. I usually love their food but hardly any enchilada sauce on the chicken burritos either time and didn't come with tortilla chips. Other Mexican restaurants include tortilla chips with take out orders. We did get sopapillas with honey butter, they were delicious. The food was ready on time.

Waited in a booth for 15 min while the server waited on adjacent tables. Asked to be moved to another section. Waited for 10 more minutes after we were asked if we wanted cheese with our chips/salsa. Some patrons were seated near us. When we got our chips the server said she would be back to take our order, taking the salsa and cheese to the newly seated patrons. I do not pay for poor service so left. I have been going to El Matador regularly for 20 years. This is my last time and will discourage anyone from going here. NOT WORTH IT. One star only because you cannot leave anything less.

They were busy and service was short handed, minus the little extended wait time you would not notice. Service and food were great, drinks stayed full and food was hot and delicious. Great time, amazing atmosphere, do yourself a favor and try the soapia balls.

Great place to eat, friendly staff. Service was a little slow, but they brought plenty of drinks and even threw in an extra thing of chips and salsa for free.
