Based on my experience, I'm surprised by the 4.1 overall rating. I ate here for the first time this Friday when my partner and I were in Ogden to take care of a couple of things, and we were so pleased and impressed. We both got the tasting menu, which was a series of adorable little explosions of deliciousness served on little tiny plates, followed by a main and a desert. I was (as a person of appetite) a little bit worried that the main course would also be wee, and that I would leave with a lot of good flavors and a not-full tummy, but I needn't have worried. The steaks we got for our mains were perfect (the chimichurri was so fresh and vibrant and perfect!), and substantial (1/3 of mine came home with me, along with most of the potatoes). The cocktails were tasty, well balanced, creative riffs on familiar favorites; dessert kind of blew my mind—a taste of vanilla and rhubarb perfection.
Our server was relaxed and friendly, but prompt, enthusiastic, and well-informed about all of the food and drinks. The tasting menu, at 60$ per person on a Friday night, was very reasonably priced—this isn't an every day sort of meal for us, but entirely worth it for the quality of the food. We were talking afterward about wanting to come back to Ogden seasonally to try out their new menus. I don't think we could get a meal of this quality at this price anywhere in Salt Lake.
This is a chef centric place. I’ve retired from cooking but was in the deep end for 20 years. The dishes here are very much like what my various sous would create for potential features. My response was usually ok, it’s in the right direction, now take out ingredients until you get to the rule of three. “This with that and that”. Too many flavors and or garnishes hide the essence of the protein being served. This was my third visit and I’ll return because I think cooks like this deserve to be supported. Aside from the over complications, he needs to provide his service staff with real training. The wine list is non-existent. A very short list with no vintages - but it didn’t matter because none were in stock. This is not a negative review. I encourage you to give it a try.
A nice birthday dinner with my daughter ❣️ Thank you very much
I cannot express enough just how much I loved my experience here. The food was beyond incredible. By far the best meal I've had in years. I'm still reeling from how good it was. But the best part of my experience was the service.
It started with my husband and I having a confusing as heck gift card deal that the hostess and the chef helped us navigate. Then during our meal, we had the most amazing waitress. Her name was Erandy, and let me tell you, I have NEVER been so well taken care of in a restaurant. She was kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable in the menu. She took the time to make sure everything was perfect for us. She was an absolute angel.
You better believe that the first chance we get, we will be coming back. If I could give more than five stars, I would.
If you’re looking for a yummy steak…. Go somewhere else.
We ordered the chefs 5 course dinner and it was less than sub par. Not sure why they called it a 5 course as it mostly consisted of miniature plates that had odd servings on it. The steak was salty, overcooked and possibly old. We got bread pudding for dessert and not even that was palatable. Left hungry. Not worth the money in my opinion. Even the wine was meh.
This should be called The Emperors valentines 10 course tasting, If you're looking for the food you'll have to look closely & remember that only the very worthy can see it. The service was lovely, I loved the balcony seating, looking out at the beautiful night, my generous children, & my valentines sweet heart of 44 years.
We really enjoy the atmosphere of this place. The wait staff is pleasant and helpful. The food is fantastic. Last time I was there we had meatloaf...and it was phenomenal.
Very nice, high class restaurant with excellent food and service. The chef special is the best way to go with AJ's recommendations. Bohdi was also extremely helpful and provided excellent service!
The restaurant was absolutely empty and we were the only patrons there, yet it took forever for us to be served and to receive our food. Once we received it, it was overcooked. I had the duck and it was dry and had a jerky-like texture. My wife ordered the rabbit which tasted good, but was also a little dry. The restaurant charges a mandatory gratuity of 20% regardless of the size of your party. I do not agree with that on principle for a party of two. I can understand if there is a large party to ensure that the wait staff receives adequate compensation. I ordered two different cocktails. They both looked exactly the same and did not taste very differently. They both were dark brown and served in whiskey glasses and full of ice, but not craft ice. Something you would expect from a supposedly high-end restaurant. We ended up deciding to skip dessert and went to another restaurant below to see what they had to offer. Their cocktails and desserts were what we were expecting from a nicer restaurant. I would not recommend this place as it is right now.
We came here for our anniversary and did the tasting menu and it was amazing. We had a reservation, and they sat us when we arrived. The staff was so friendly and the food came out for each course pretty quick. We were so full by the end of the meal and we struggled to finish our mains and dessert but we made it through. We loved everything we ate and it all tasted unique and fresh.

Had a lovely night with a new years tasting menu. Everything was so flavorful and beyond expectations, and our waiter (Cullen, I believe?) was very involved and attentive. I’ve always been wary of the fine dining small plates, but I was pleasantly full at the end of the night and very happy.
This place is attempting to be fine dining, but its actually rather casual in terms of ambiance, and service. However, that is not a bad thing. I think this is as good as Ogden fine dining will get to be approachable to the local scene.
We did the chef's menu and we came in with low expectations and we left impressed. For the price, you get some delicious seasonal courses. Some of the dishes were trying too hard but by the 4th course it was hitting its stride. Id definitely go back as there was some really memorable flavors and they were genuinely interested to understand how we liked the dishes
First time dining at Hearth. My sister wanted to try the restaurant because she was curious about the Chef Tasting ( 5 course) menu . We absolutely loved it. It was fun & exciting to try the five course menu . Tasty & flavorful . We enjoyed all of it. Our main dishes were salmon & NY steak . DELICIOUS .
Atmosphere was classy & service was wonderful! The Only regret, we should have personally thanked the Chef for the delicious dishes .
Thank you once again for THE best Thanksgiving dinner!
Charcuterie board meat tasted old, steak was mostly fat and not done right. Otherwise food was OK. Had to listen to a crying baby half the time, but the waiter was excellent
