Warm atmosphere. Tasty beer.
Our server was super friendly and hospitable
Speaking of hospitals, the food tastes like it could be served in one
The Proper Dip was tasteless, bland, 2/3 the size of an adult sandwich.
Extremely disappointing I feel I was robbed for the price unfortunately.
Love the beer but would not eat here again even if it was free. I was with 5 other people who all agreed the food was surprisingly bad.
Tastes like they just back the Sodexho truck up to the kitchen and plate it up. Sad.

Great to have in the neighborhood. Reliable, nice patio, no fuss. Fan of the burgers and beef stroganoff.

Consistently soggy fries. Chicken sandwich not too shabby. Chicken patty is crispy (surprisingly). I dont think they know how to fry fries. Not the 1st time. Last time i came it was the same issue. They fried up some fresh ones, but this took about 15 minutes--chicken sammy cold, cause i waited for damn fries. Also a tad salty. Ask for light salt if youre gonna order their famous soggy fries.

I find Avenues Proper to be overrated. The dining area was loud, service was ok, burger was woefully undercooked and the other meals (chicken waffles, smash burger and chicken sandwich were mediocre) but hey the fries were good.the the dining also cold and drafty and we left smelling like the kitchen which is always a turnoff.
Overall, I love the Avenues Proper. It is one of the gems of the avenues. It’s a great place for an afternoon lunch and drink or a cozy dinner. I have noticed over the years, the pass-through rate of its servers and receptionists. I think this is indicative of all the struggles that restaurants have in finding and keeping good staff. But with that said, this place is notorious, at least for me, who frequents it often, for making you wait forever at their empty receptionists desk—wait for somebody, anybody! to seat you. Today, for example, my wife and I stood there for nearly 10 minutes before we finally left. If this were the only time, I wouldn’t be writing this, but this has happened to me now at least the past four times I’ve gone there. If you are on a tight schedule, you might want to think about going someplace else. That is what we had to do today, which was unfortunate.

Great fresh food and atmosphere
Food was excellent and our service was top notch. Our group was visiting from out of state. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return if in SLC again.

Their spicey chicken sandwich is one of the best meals I've ever had. I'll keep coming back to Avenues Proper just for that delicious sandwich.

Stopped here on a whim and so glad we did. We got here just as they opened so it wasn't crowded at all, and service was fast and friendly, thank you Caroline V! Coffee was hot and good. The proper burger was excellent, and the fries were very good. The chicken and waffles were so good, the sausage came as breaded fried patties, the fresh ground cumin flavor really came through, and the waffles were fluffy and perfect. There's street parking and a parking lot. There are dining options inside and outside. We sat inside and enjoyed the chill mood music. There's a large beer selection that we're looking forward to sampling next time we come here. 10/10 recommend!

Came here with my husband for date night and had an anmazing experience. The atmosphere and service was very warm and welcoming, our server Annie was so sweet and had great suggestions. I got the beef stroganoff and my husband got the ny strip steak. Would definitely recommend!
Everything great except the brussel sprout appetizer which was extremely salty but service and other food was good.
