“Had an absolutely delightful experience at Shabu Shabu last night! The food, especially the meats, were beyond my expectations—tender, flavorful, and perfectly cut for that melt-in-your-mouth sensation. The broth options complemented the meats beautifully, enhancing the overall dining experience. Each dish was presented with care, making the meal not just a feast for the palate but for the eyes as well. The service was attentive and friendly, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend for anyone craving an authentic Shabu Shabu experience!”

“If you like Italian food then you have to visit this restaurant in SLC! We went there twice during our 4 day stay. The service was great and so was the food! For appetizers I recommend the whipped Brie and carpaccio. The bread service was also so yummy! As for the entrees we got the risotto, brasato braised beef, truffle pasta which were 10/10. The filet Mingon was also tasty but could use a little bit less salt. Ravioli al Funghi is vegan and also tasted very fresh. As for dessert I would recommend the tiramisu! Honestly everything was flavorful 10/10 recommend.”

Vertical Diner 234 W 900 S, Salt Lake City Vegan • $$
234 W 900 S, Salt Lake City

“I've held off reviewing Vertical Diner for several years now, still mourning the fall from grace it experienced after changing ownership and no longer being Sage's. However, after several years in the wilderness I feel like it has finally built its way back to serious competition for the best vegan food in Utah. The addition of more fresh ingredients, the habanero mango wings, and an improved tempeh bacon and crispy chik'n add to an addictive dipping cheez sauce to make it hard to go wrong. My wife always orders La Mesa, an excellent GF option. I jump around more, but the Ian McKaye mac-and-cheeze burger is a favorite. We eat here 2-3x a month and can strongly recommend it; our carnivore friends have been happy with their food too, since it not only has great flavors but in the last years has got the textures right too.”

“I'd heard rave reviews of the alligator tacos and as the only place in possibly the whole State who serves gator, I knew I had to come to Neutral Ground. I went with a friend who was in from out of town. We both walked in and fell in love with the atmosphere! The whole vibe is very New Orleans. It's very visually appealing. As for the food ?????? AMAZING! The blackened alligator tacos were delish! My favorite dish is a tossup between the andouille sausage flatbread pizza and the fried green tomatoes! The beignets were so good and the dipping sauces only added to the experience. Loved the berry cobbler as well. We truly didn't have a bad bite of food. Our server was next level amazing. He knew when to be attentive and when to hang back. The service was outstanding. Possibly my new favorite restaurant!”

402 Harvey Milk Blvd #2, Salt Lake City

“Big fan of Greek food after this dinner! We made a reservation and got right to our table on time, but you should definitely plan to show up a few minutes early just to find parking (which took a couple turns around intersecting streets). Since I am Gluten Free, I always try to look at a menu prior to getting there so I'm not panicing figuring out what I can eat. This was no problem with Manoli's - they have clear GF options and I had been trying to not eat all day just to save my appetite because everything sounded so delish! We had 3 appetizers, the Garides are the picture I actually remembered to take because again...starving and anxious to try everything, the Htenia which was the best scallop I've ever had, and a classic Greek Dolmades - with homemade Greek yogurt that looked like whipped cream. We also got a Branzino as the main, and my first time having it did not disappoint. Highly recommend Manoli's - even though the restaurant was full on this busy Friday night, it felt like we had a private chef cooking everything perfectly and solely for our table.Dietary restrictions: I have Celiac so I have to eat Gluten Free.”

“This place is chic, service is exceptional and sushi is fresh and delicious. We ordered toro sashimi, Stargazer and mercury roll, but when the toro came it was a grayish white color which had us worried. Everyone who loves sushi knows that Toro is supposed to be pink... but the waitress was really really helpful. She not only asked the kitchen staff about the reason for the color, she also returned the dish back to the kitchen after we said we didn't want it. We then ordered a wagyu steak fearing for their fish quality, but the rest of the sushi rolls were amazing with big chunks of juicy sashimi inside. I'm pretty sure Stargazer had bluefin tuna on the topping. The wagyu was delicious as well. cooked to perfection for both the meat and the lightly battered tempura asparagus. Over all pretty satisfying experience. I hope the toro sashimi was just a random error. Coming back to try more next time!”

“This place is so good. This is the second time we’ve picked up pasta here and, so far, our favorite sauces are the simple San Marzano and San Marzano with veggies. The latter has more of that onion flavor you might be used to in sauces if you don’t usually get simple red sauces. The pasta is fresh and has a great bite. It’s not watery, overcooked, or bland. A lot comes in a regular size so you’ll be filled. Both flavors of panna cotta are wonderful. The chocolate is rich and the mixed berry is my personal favorite.I really appreciate that there’s a place with great fresh pasta that’s so accessible.”

We went right after it opened and they didn't have their liquor license yet which they said they should have soon. We got the smoked trout dip (4/5) the chips were especially good. The risotto (1.5/5) was our least favorite. It was a little crunchy and the green apples in it didn't really compliment the dish. The braised beef and hummus was INCREDIBLE (6/5). So so tasty and tender. The pomegranate molasses was such a nice touch and the flat bread was awesome. Speaking of which the bread they bring out at the beginning also INCREDIBLE (6/5). We also got the smoked pastrami and charred cabbage (4/5). It was a yummy dish. I don't think I'd get it again. Surprisingly the charred cabbage was the star of the show, not the pastrami but it was still an enjoyable dish to try. We will definitely be back to Roux!”

Yeah I get it takes away from tips from her but to be honest when you have to ask for refills on drinks and coffee she isn't that great of a waitress. Plus if she wanted us to leave, the polite thing to do would have been to say, "hey if there is nothing else I can get for you I apologize but we really need this table for customers that are waiting to be seated." I would have have apologized and left. Honestly I didn't realize she was upset until my daughter noticed our waitress complaining to coworkers and giving us dirty looks. “I ordered the strawberry horchata, ramen, and a carne asada taco. The horchata and ramen were interesting options that I don't see typically see at a taco place. The strawberry horchata tasted like strawberry milk with a pinch of cinnamon... It was okay. The ramen tasted like instant ramen noodles from Maru-Chan was dropped in a bowl of beef stew.... The taco tasted pretty good though.I'd probably use the broth of the ramen as a type of sauce if I ordered it for take out instead of dining in.”

“Really nice place. Appropriate volume inside. We ordered an appetizer-skewer trio. Very delicious but personally i could taste the wooden skewers just a bit. Then we ordered crispy style sushi- spicy tuna with scallions and crunchy shallots. Pretty delicious! Rice was fried perfectly. I've had this at jinyas before and it was very oily. But this one was perfect. I'm just not sure the texture of the rice is my personal favorite. I would order again if I was with someone who's never had it like my mom or a friend.Secondly we had a tempura fried roll- DTH roll. P good. Not enough texture. Missing a veggie in this one. Would like to try a different roll next time.Husband got the dinner combination plate- tacos and steak. And chicken wings! Delicious”

“We went just after they opened. The nigirii was good. The rolls were fine and pretty normal for sushi here in Salt Lake City. What was excellent was the fish. Our server let us know that the fish was delivered that day just before they opened. The blue fin tuna was top-notch and melted in your mouth. I would go back just for that! We also had the plum tea that was refreshing perfect warm sweet and sour flavors. Sadly, the food was so good that I didn't get a chance to take pictures. ? in this case, no pictures are a compliment.”

Not only is this the best salad I've ever had in my life, it's also the #1 dish in all of SLC, in my humble opinion. This salad will heal your tattered soul. She's beauty, she's grace, she's crunchy and savory and smoky and nutty and so damn good. This is what I crave when I am feeling celebratory, or getting over sickness, or need a comfort food, or feeling a little fancy. Shoutout to Jordan for always being such a kind waiter even when I fly in like a bat outta hell screaming SAMMY SALLYYYYYY NO RAISINSSSSS. Oh, and the pizza is divine too. “ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️My experience is with the sliders I ordered for takeaway, and I couldn’t have been more impressed. The food was phenomenal! Although, I must regrettably admit that I’m unable to describe much to you. The sliders were just too good to taste. As soon as my taste buds caught wind of the awesomeness reaching my face, I went into food frenzied autopilot and wolfed everything down in minutes. All joking aside, I couldn’t believe I got so much lobster for only $20! It seemed like a steal as they provided A LOT, all of which were in big pieces no less! Succulent, sweet lobster on a soft bun was never something I thought I’d enjoy in Utah. I tip my hat to the owners for bringing about such a nifty and unique idea, and rest my case that there is quite an amazing food scene in Salt Lake if you know where to look. “The sushi class was overbooked. I couldn’t see or hear anything the guy was saying. We did a Groupon tour of Mountain West way back when it was newer and more up and coming and it was amazing. Has changed a lot since then. The description online said we would be shown how to make three rolls, but he kinda walked us through one and then said have at it. There wasn’t enough rice for us to make the three rolls and had we not stood up in confusion after a while of sitting and wondering, wouldn’t have even been able to do 2 as we got some of the last of it. I hope they realize in the future they need a bigger space, or to have a cutoff of how many people can do a class at a time, seeing as there wasn’t space for everyone to adequately hear/see/learn as well as enough product for everyone to make stuff. Guy was nice and his sushi rice was perfect, but I thought there’d be more to it. It was still nice to get out of the house.”
