“This spot feels like a dive bar right out of the golden age of dive bars. It completely avoids the over-polished feel of newer downtown spots. You get the grit of a 75-year-old bar but it doesn't feel neglected.
Most importantly it is cash only. Though there is an atm in the back of you don't grab some on the way here.“

“Wonderful spot. Nice atmosphere once inside, where I feel like I’m on an old ship. Drinks were great and staff was wonderful. Only complaint is not totally melancholy, but the post district is pretty bland and just feels like a smaller gateway mall. No character area. If melancholy could move to a stand alone building or area that is a fun neighborhood, I’d absolutely love the place.“

“Staff such as Hilda, Julie, Nathan, and Samai and Siva, have always gone the extra mile to provide the best service.

They are friendly and competent. This is the reason we frequently return.

Your Menu, on the other hand, is limited and over priced. The wine menu could be a bit more sophisticated without increasing prices. It is understood servers do not do the wine purchasing.

The entire service staff could use more support from the organization. It is important for staff morale and may help reduce staff turnover.“

“I am a grandma who has been having special teatime with the 7 grandchildren for a couple of years. I decided this year to take them to an authentic tea at the grand America. As you can see from the attached pictures, they loved the experience and will remember it for years to come. They were delighted to have their own teapot and special childrens menu.. “I attended a Day Party/Brunch yesterday (March 30th) and it was a very nice event, atmosphere, small rooftop area and hookah, nice tables! The DJs played a variety of genres, people socialized and danced. Awesome servers and bartenders. My server, Jacob Meadows, provided excellent service and he was very friendly and personable. I like how there is a food hall directly next door, connected to The Drift Lounge. I highly recommend Taste of Louisiana!“

“Accidentally wandered in to Lake Effect while looking for another place the hotel down the street recommended. Had airport food the day before and hotel breakfast that morning and was craving real food. Had the Birria Tacos from the Brunch menu and have to say they were OUTSTANDING! Some of the best I've ever had. If I lived there, I would have to have those tacos a couple of times a month!“

“This is a beautiful lounge located within the Grand American Hotel. The place is super classy and a great establishment to visit for date night or a sophisticated after work meeting place. We couldn't recommend Gibson Lounge highly enough. Loved the atmosphere here, and the bread pudding is awesome, BTW!“

We were welcomed by our bartender Rhett, he was a wealth of information about the city and especially about dive bars, like this one, which this place truly is and proud of it. Drinks were fairly priced, although Utah makes them meter their pores, but you can always order another?“
