We will really miss this place - it was where so many of our Christmas Eve, birthday and anniversary celebrations have been! Always amazing food and service - really sad to see them close.
Need a real chef and not cooks. Fish stuffed with cold salad! No grilled fish on menu. Dessert a messy joke. Some items good but inconsistent. Waitress was excellent
Perfect date night spot! The clam chowder was delicious. The scallop entree and seafood stew were OUTSTANDING! Lovely restaurant, great service, fun location, and incredible food!
Food was good, as usual. Loved the presentation of the octopus appetizer, but oddly, not the octopus itself (did love the grilled pineapple and shishito peppers, however). Salmon was excellent. Server, not so good. Food came out way too fast (didn't ask), with the entrees piled on before we'd finished our appetizers.
Always happy to visit one of our favorite spots in slc. Just re-obtained their original chef and many dishes have been made excellent. Fish Stew with the addition of some fresh vegetables, more flavor to the Shrimp and Grits and an excellent take on Scallops recently with a crispy rice cake and delicious sauce. Always a delight.
All in all a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and beautiful. While there were some dishes I probably wouldn't try again, that has more to do with personal tastes than an error on their part (for instance, the Calamari seemed bland, but I am used to getting fried Calamari). I also was on the fence about the carrot puree for the scallops, but again - that's just on me, and I didn't read the description very well.
Our server was delightful and kept the martini's coming as I'd indicated I wanted (it's hard to get a martini in Utah, because it's only one alcohol, and the stupid state has such stupid rules).

Too expensive for my taste. Most of the time the restaurant is mostly empty.

The food and service were really good. It's pricey, but great atmosphere for a date night.

Overall food quality vs the price was very good. Service was excellent. My only suggestion is that for the price point is that the decor, menus, etc need to be cleaned, organized, refreshed a bit. I saw light sconces askew and sorta dirty menus. Simple fixes to get to 5 stars. Need a decorator and some cleaners to spend a day in there getting it up to par. Rating 4.6-4.7. We will be back soon! BTW crab cake a must get! Very unique, fresh, no binders hardly which is awesome! Also should have a bit of a dress code. Not sure what the deal is with that area, i guess its just downtown..Almost forgot - they are running a Summer $45 prix fix tasting course. Didn't get it but will next time. That is an incredible deal with the food quality involved.

A wonderful option for great seafood. Our drinks were excellent as well. I had the raw oysters and I was not disappointed with them.

The service at Current was amazing! The server was attentive without being overbearing - the perfect amount of attention. The food was great! I'm not a big oyster fan, but was able to try some and - well, I'm just not an oyster fan. The house salad was right-sized and a lovely transition from apps to dinner. Our entrees were wonderful! We had the affogato for dessert. Delish! We sat outside, which was nice despite having been a hot day, but very few folks took advantage of the patio. That made it nice and quiet for us! We will definitely be back.
We are so excited to see Logen back. It went way down hill when he left so we stopped going there now that he is back we will start going back again. Hopefully the owners have learned from the past mistake you don't loose a quality chef.
Scallops and veggies were great. I’d like to try other things

We celebrated our anniversary by making a reservation well in advance for dinner here. It's a beautiful big open restaurant; we sat at a booth in front of the open kitchen. There were outdoor tables but it was very hot. The restaurant was a Ford service station from 1906 prior to becoming Current Fish and Oyster. Unisex bathrooms were around the corner from the bar. Bonny was our waitress . We started with a planet Oregon rosé from the Williamannette Valley, Oregon. Mike enjoyed Pinot Grigio from Marlborough, New Zealand to start. Since we are in Utah, we can't taste the wine, as they can not give us free wine, so we could pay $1 to taste, and it cannot be combined with our drink. We began by sharing the grilled calamari with jalapeño, grilled fingerlings, lemon and red onion. Our calamari came out very very quickly as did our wine. Our wines were delicious and the calamari sauce was very interesting. It had a nice kick. I ordered the scallop dinner and my husband Seabass. We wanted bread to soak up the sauce, but it was a heavy & detracted from the sauce, we were charged $6. My scallops with carrots, mushrooms, snow peas were in a flavorful sauce over a rice cake; it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his sea bass with beans over a corn avocado tortilla. The restaurant was very quiet there were free tables. Yet a bus boy tried to take our plates while we were eating from them. We shared the flourless, chocolate tart with Chantilly cream & cherries. Dinner was very very quick, with our three courses we were in and out less than an hour. I would have preferred a more leisurely, relaxing dinner.
Very few restaurants in SLC that do not disappoint and I can add Current to the list!
Came for our anniversary and was greeted with a happy anniversary menu and friendly waiter. Let’s get to food:
Apps: crab cake 9/10, calamari 10/10, broiled oysters 9/10 all very delicious, tender, fresh and seasoned impeccably. I would come back just to eat all the apps!
Entrees: Scallops 9/10 loved this dish, scallops were tender they gave a big portion.. sauce was very ginger forward which I could do a little less of and the carrots were so good! ..
Sea bass 9/10 the fish was cooked and seasoned so well! I loved the citrus sauce and my only complaint was the beans would do better pureed bc there was a lot of texture with the cabbage already.
Whipped potatoes 11/10 SO GOOD buttery goodness highly recommend!
Drinks & dessert: really enjoyed the Pinot we ordered and the orange wine was decent. For dessert we got affogato and it was perfect not too rich or sweet to end the meal feeling refreshed! We would’ve liked if they would have given us a little happy anniversary doodle on the dessert plate or something to make it feel more special.
Service: our waiter Ehsan (sorry if I got it wrong) was kind, attentive and even helped giving us some of his fave spots in slc.
Ambiance: not too formal nor casual with lots of windows.
