Took some friends here for their first time. Food was delicious per usual. We went at 5:30 and weren't many people, but when we left around 7, the place was busy. Oysters were delicious and fresh. Chowder soup was creamy with large chunks of clams. I was surprised that the clam dip was cold, but I enjoyed it. Some of the best fish and chips, per my friend. Our server was fine, but had no emotion or affect whatsoever and kinda bummed is out.
Trying out a seafood place could be challenging, but this place did break the challenge. I have to say the two plates we got to try were delicious; the food was so fresh. I was very pleased with the taste and the texture of the food. Very well, combinations. I also got the lemon oil cake, but I got it to go, and it was not as great as I expected, but I guess I’ll try to eat it in the restaurant to see if there’s a difference in the presentation.
Current used to be our preferred go to for date nights. Unfortunately we hadn’t been in a while and it seems they got a new head chef. Well unfortunately this “James Beard award winning chef” does not do Current’s previous menu justice. Honestly just create a new menu instead of trying to tweak the recipes to fit the new chef’s preference. The Spanish Octopus is completely terrible now. From presentation to taste profile.
Ordered 6oz salmon got 2 x fish sticks, one was cooked fine and the other salmon fish stick was raw. 👎
I've dined here twice, and both times the food and service did not meet expectations given the prices. I won’t be returning.
The food that we ordered are excellent. Creative dishes. Seafood are fresh. Our waiter was informative, made suggestions. Must visit place in Salt Lake city.
My partner has acute Celiac's disease but we both looove trying new food and especially seafood. The menu isn't marked but the staff is friendly and careful- they let us know which foods were safe, made sure to note it on the ticket, and he didn't get sick! They don't have perfect understanding of drinks though- beware the Red Port (fortified wine) and whiskey/rum. The grilled calamari was a lovely app. My partner had the whole Branzino and i had the King Salmon. They were both excellent- extremely fresh, clean tasting, and cooked perfectly. The only complaint about the salmon is that the beans underneath were a tad too hard for me. I like them buttery and they had a bit of a bite. I still cleaned the plate though! Highly recommend the flourless torte as well. They have amarena cherries on them which we've found to be gluten free from some and glutened from others. They were gluten free here when we went but just a heads-up. I also want to mention that i get easily overwhelmed by harsh lighting and loud music. I sincerely appreciate that the music was present but not overpowering. The lighting was also calming and perfectly dimmed to set the atmosphere. A very enjoyable experience!
Food was delicious and attractively presented. Accommodated an additional person beyond our reservation. Kept the table 3 hours and were never rushed.
The menu change was disappointing as they eliminated my favorite; the seafood Cobb salad, which was excellent. The recommended substitute was only mediocre; the prawns did not seem fresh, the crab was scarce in the salad, and the add-on $10 scallop was half to 2/3rds the size of their previous scallops (in addition to being chewy and overcooked). I was glad I didn't try ordering the scallop dinner that I had considered. Looks like I'll need to consider other seafood restaurants.
We really enjoyed our dinner last night. They have a new chef who apparently was the chef back in 2016. They also have a new menu. I ordered the salmon and my partner ordered the tuna. We are looking forward to coming back. (My only, and very minor, suggestion would be a bit more ambiance. Our table and the section of the restaurant we sat in was plain.)

Friendly and efficient staff; nice atmosphere and easy to talk. Noise level was low. Shrimp and grits and the scallops were very good. Crab cakes too salty, but bread is delicious.
Overall, a decent experience. Food was delicious although very salty. The disappointing part of our evening was the service. The server clearly would have preferred to be anywhere other than at the restaurant and it affected the atmosphere.
I went with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. While our waitress provided warm and welcoming service, the biggest issue was the food. My friends and I all agreed that the appetizers were far better than the main courses. We started with the crab cakes, burrata, and seared calamari, which were all delicious. The grilled carrots were just okay—nothing special. Unfortunately, things went downhill when it came to the entrées. We ordered the shrimp & grits, salmon, the steak special (which came with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a cream sauce), and the mushroom ravioli. Aesthetically, the dishes looked beautiful, but the quality and taste had major issues. The shrimp on the grits was good, but the grits themselves were more of a purée, and the tomato sauce was overwhelming, slathered all over the plate. The biggest disappointment was the mushroom ravioli. While the mushrooms and sauce were well-balanced, the ravioli itself was like chewing on shoe leather overworked, overcooked, and way too tough. The steak was decent, but the cream sauce made no sense on the plate. Its tangy, sour-cream-like flavor clashed with the filet mignon rather than complementing it. The only entrée truly worth eating was the salmon. Overall, it's disappointing to see the quality, taste, and execution of this restaurant decline. While the service was great and the appetizers were solid, the main courses left a lot to be desired.
Chowder was paste consistency and too salty. The fish and chips are better and on third the price at Culvers.
