Heads up: George is now closed for walk-ins and during regular dining hours. It's only open for events. This isn't very well announced as you walk up to it-- I tried to go and was surprised the door was locked during regular business hours. I saw no signage announcing it so I figured maybe it was just a slow night and the staff closed up early. I since learned by calling in that it's entirely closed and only open for reservations and events. Having said that, I'm still giving three stars because it's owned by such a talented family of restaurants. Their food and chefs are great, especially their pairings of drink with food. It's a shame this one didn't work out.

Great decor and service was amazing. Checked in plenty without being intrusive, knew the wine and food very well and made excellent recommendations. The food was delicious. Loved the larder and seafood appetizers to start. Biscuits, pimento cheese and oysters were incredible! Loved the pistolettes sliders, and our table loved the shrimp and grits, gumbo, Mac n cheese and chicken sandwich.

Eh... Service was good overall. Tastes were very bland, I felt. Beignet? No... 6 small donut bites. The alligator, over-seasoned, could have been anything. And the sliders, the burger and Bbq pork sandwich ok. You're paying for the atmosphere I feel more than the food. Ugh... This is my first real bad review. So, yeah... Nevermind. I hate doing it, but seriously not impressed. Honestly, the crowd I saw in there. You go George! Hustle it up! Haha. Let those staunch fools pay crazy for mediocre food. Sorry.

Three for food four star for employees. Thanksgiving meal was somewhat disappointing, not much turkey just some heated up breast slices, plus green beans. The prime beef was good. There was scrambled eggs and sausage link day old rice along with some traditional salad blue cheese etc. The gumbo soup was decent. The place seemed a bit disorganized with the seating process and the food service. The Server Jordan was cordial and pleasant.

We decided to go to this restaurant for Thanksgiving at $35 a pop. Let me just say that it was like warmed up cafeteria food that had been over seasoned with huge amounts of garlic. We were there at the start of the day so I expected the food to be fresh ? And not dried out? Also, all the items that were mentioned on the menu were not there as it described. I was also surly that even though there were very few people waiting, service was almost nonexistent- I would never recommend this establishment.

Just had the Thanksgiving buffet. We had been two years ago.The price was decent, but a bit disappointed to find the food was not as good. The turkey was a bit dry, the stuffing VERY dry. The biscuits great, the shrimp delightful. No yams? Good pecan pie, no whipped cream for the traditional pumpkin pie....? Where we sat was also cold with a constant draft...open door somewhere? As it had just snowed in Salt Lake it was cold outside...Not as pleasant as we'd hoped.

Jordan our server was so amazing and very attentive to our 3 yr old son which scored major points with us. The food was savory and cheap for the great quality. We got shrimp & grits, gator and gumbo...all A+ dishes. Even the drinks won me over. We'll certainly be back.

Nice bar and restaurant off the beaten path. The food was good and friendly staff. Fun environment for hanging with friends.

This has a great atmosphere. It reminds me of a neighborhood bar you could find yourself in time and time again. The food was fantastic, my only gripe was that most the main entrees were sandwiches. I was hoping they had a bit more selection in salads or entrees with a large helping of protein as the focus. Regardless, we will return, but probably more often for a cocktail than a meal.

Made a reservation online thru OpenTable, and was all set for my wife and I's anniversary dinner, even got a text confirming our reservation, but George is closed on Mondays. Should probably communicate this to your online reservation contractors.

The people were nice, cocktails were very good and the food was wonderful. We had a time restriction, as we had a concert to go to. They treated us great and we were served and finished in plenty of time

My wife and I ate at George last night for the first time and we couldn't have been happier. For variety sake we ordered four items off the menu: Gator, Gumbo, Pistolettes (a stuffed roll), and Shrimp & Grits. Everything was delicious, but the Gumbo and the Shrimp & Grits were outstanding. I don't know how they could have tasted better. And I was surprised at how reasonably priced everything was. Katrina, our server, made us feel very comfortable and John, the chef, even came out to our table to chat. He was great to talk to and gave us some tips on making our own roux. This restaurant is fairly new and not as well known as other, older restaurants, but I'll be really surprised if that doesn't change soon.

The bartender was unacceptably rude and insulting. She tried to make jokes that completely insulted customers characters. Yes, the drinks were fine. No, the service was not good. In fact, it was one of the worst I have ever received. As someone who works in customer service, f that nonsense and buck up buddy. 10/10 would not recommend. I can make a sangria in my own damn kitchen without being insulted by the bartender

A quiet intimate place close to our hotel. Food and service were great. Definitely recommend for a cozy night out.
