This was absolutely the worst Chinese meal I’ve had in my life.
For Asian food, it was surprisingly lacking in flavor. The ham fried rice was bland AF, and the garlic chicken tasted like they had just killed it… dry, with not even a hint of flavor.
I was extremely let down because I usually have high expectations for Asian food because it’s flavorful and delicious 99% of the time. But this wasn’t it.
If I wanted bland, flavorless food, I would’ve gone to an American diner.
Food was very cold
Our favorite dim sum spot!!! Great every time 💯
I love it here. I've never had tea add so much to a meal. The food is always excellent.
If you have the time, take the trax and eat in. It is so very worth it.
The servers are very attentive, and perhaps just smile less than what some are used to american servers usually do. But the teapot was checked on regularly, never had to wait for other drinks to be filled, and was extremely wonderful for service.
Seriously one of the best places you can go in the valley.
I’ve seen several reviews that the service is horrible, well they are wrong! The service is great! The waitress/hostess had a several minute conversation with two young children and was very engaging with them as they told her all about their day, school and likes in Disney! Anyways, more to the food…. Delicious! We ordered the kung poa chicken, bbq pork (app), chicken chow mein, general tso, and the bbq pork fried rice.. it was just me and the husband but we had to keep trying things because it was so good! Winners were the generals and bbq pork fried rice! No refills on soda tho. We will definitely be back to try other menu items. The atmosphere is wonderful! Not that big of a place, maybe 10 tables. Super clean! Didn’t even see dust on the bottom of the table
Best egg rolls!
The server’s attitude is bad.
When first entering the cafe, she asked if we are Chinese and told us how to order. A couple of rules:
* tick the english line not the chinese line (the menu is confusing, check out the picture to see)
* use number to indicate quantities we need, not circle or cross, tick
I feel not comfortable about this because
1. They could just update the menu to make it easier to read.
2. The server’s attitude is like she’s teaching a naughty kid who is her enemy.
What makes it worse, is that when we place the order, she confirmed the ordered items with us, but she didn’t confirm all items.
She just randomly selected 3 items to confirm, which makes me feel she is just checking if we understand the rules she just gave. Otherwise why doesn’t she confirm all of it?
Now I am sure she is not trying to help us to get the order right, just trying to prove that we Chinese are naughty kids who don’t know how to order.
I don’t like this place and will not come back.
I loooove Hong Kong Tea House! The food is always fantastic and the service is always great. I highly recommend the jumbo shrimp dumplings
Amazing dim sum
Everything was so delicious! From what we could tell its all made in house. They dont do the carts, so it is to order but it doesnt take very long to come out. The seasme balls were the best we have had in years. The turnip cakes were homemade and so tasty!! We have been to several dim sum places and this one was by far the best!

Amazing food, amazing service. We will return. I don’t have complaints regarding this restaurant, besides it’s a little on the pricey side, but worth it for the quality and value of the food. The most authentic Chinese food I’ve had in SLC, and I grew up here, seen places come and go, but I’m very pleased to see Hong Kong Tea House stay, and it’s for good reason too. Try it out.
The waitress was horrible. I want to give 0 stars. I rarely write bad reviews for restaurants but her attitude, actions, and tone made me feel the need to share this bad experience. She also forced me to tip 15% and stared at me while I wrote the tip. Her service was poor so I don’t understand why she expected such a high tip, Ridiculous. From Asian perspective, their food isn’t bad but far from good. Just EDIBLE. Another restaurant would be a better choice.
Great dim sum and for Utah it is one of the best so let’s keep it busy.
Service is incredible, I absolutely love spending time in this restaurant. I've been here over and over and each time I get exactly what I want every time. It's not very expensive and quality is great! 😊
Delicious! Everything was so yummy and fresh and flavorful. We’ll definitely be back!
