Neat place, but too small inside, and it was too cold to sit outside when I went. Also, Google maps saying "not too busy/no wait" meant that it was completely full inside with nowhere to sit, so keep that in mind. When we went, there were zero open booths, and when one did open up, I felt guilty if we took a booth when there was a family with kids behind us, so we went outside until the food was ready, but it was too cold, so we ate in the car. If the weather is nice, outdoor seating is available, but otherwise don't expect a dine-in experience. Burgers are good and of average diner quality... Nothing to complain about, and if you like it simple (some may say bland, but that feels derogatory), you're in luck. Fries taste like In n Out, but crispier, so I like them better here. Other than that, the place is charming, the staff were nice, the prices were good, and they were giving away some roses since they are associated with the flower shop next door.
Parking: Parking lot is small, but only shared with the associated flower shop, so for the number of seats available, it's plenty big enough.
Kid-friendliness: There's only a handful of booths available, so if the weather is nice, you can eat outside (and there's a park next door you could let the kids play in), but don't expect to find indoor seating, even if Google maps is showing "not too busy/no wait".
Wheelchair accessibility: This isn't really wheelchair accessible. It's a tiny dining room (about the size of the average loving room) with booths stuffed in so two people can't walk past each other in the single aisle, so only a very narrow wheelchair would fit, plus the doors are manual swing-open style. If the weather is nice, you could dine outside or go to the adjacent park, but don't expect to dine in.

I get the impression they hire family and friends and pay them minimum wage (don't forget to tip!). They are closed on random days often, because the owner probably insists on doing the day to day operations themselves instead of just hiring a manager. It's not a big ask to be open during normal business hours. No refills. Condiments cost extra. I might understand if they shared those savings with the customer, but they don't. Cheapskates.

Went t eat here over the weekend and it was really good very awesome customer service. Also was checking out the sandlot stuff out back and the owner came by and told us about how he would take them burgers when they were filming! He then proceeded to show us a bunch of autographs from the sandlot guys themselves. My favorite childhood movie it was an awesome experience.
This is one of the few to almost last Ma and Pa restaurants. The owner also has a flower business next door. If you love the movie 'The Sandlot' , then you need to go here. The owner of the original park that the movie was filmed is getting new housing development, the owner of Hook & Ladder went to the park and saved as much memorabilia as possible and made a small 'Sandlot' behind the flower shop. So come down get some good food for real good prices and enjoy the 'Mini Sandlot' while your there. This restaurant is AWESOME!!! I was raised in the neighborhood so I go every chance I'm close by. You won't be disappointed!
Kid-friendliness: The 'Mini Sandlot' is something kids can look at and ask the owner questions, if he's not to busy.
Wheelchair accessibility: Single floor plan. They have a walk up window, not drive thru.

Hook and Ladder was one of my all time favorite places for amazing food in SLC, until my last visit.
Unfortunately I don't have pictures to share from any of my visits, but what I can tell you is the fish with the fish and chips used to be nice, big and juicy pieces of fried fish. Now, they're thin, dry and hard. They remind me of a Culver's chicken tender shape, except Culver's tenders are still moist and juicy, and taste good.
Tried one of their burgers for the first time too. Can't say I'm too surprised for the price, but it's a frozen spongy patty. It was a large burger for the price and the flavor was meh, but edible. If you're in a pinch and only have a few bucks, it's an "OK" choice.
This place has gone downhill in my opinion. Sadly, according to other's pictures, this appears to be the new norm for what they're serving. We won't be back. I will miss what this restaurant used to be.

The only bad thing about this place is that I didn't know about it for over 30 years.

I love this little restaurant. They have soft serve ice cream cones that cost only $1.25. I live only a few blocks away and it has become a habit every time I go somewhere,I stop by there 4 a chocolate soft serve ice cream cone. Good freshly made food , friendly and efficient staff as well. A good little place to go 4 a quick lunch or early family dinner.

Absolutely the best hotdogs ever and you can't beat the price for 3.... My daughter loves their basic single burger.
Also ice cream is great.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Love the atmosphere.
Parking: Parking is next to the Sand Lot.... Can be hard to find a spot when they get really busy... But worth it...
Kid-friendliness: They offer kids meals and it's just a fun friendly atmosphere for anyone in the family... Dine inside, outside or take it home.
