One of our favorite restaurants to eat. We have had Conner as our waiter twice now and his customer service is the next level. Attentive, kind, knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu. The atmosphere here is so inviting. Friendly staff, the food is so good! You cannot go wrong on the menu! 10/10Parking: There are only about 8 parking spots in the back. It's hard to get to and obviously very limited. Street parking is widely available.

Not that this place *needs* another 5-star contribution but I have to dish about the dishes. Holy moly. I’ve never seen such beautiful carrots, and the flavor combos of that dish, I could have eaten it all night. The General Tso style cauli - yeah, everyone talks about it for a reason. It was the bees knees ?????? It *was quite salty compared to the sweeter carrots, so if you do both I recommend doing the cauliflower first (which is not what I did! ??‍♂️) My wife had the fried chicken and loved it, I had the burger. Cocktails were yummy - however, I gotta say the Manhattan wasn’t worth the $35ish I paid for it. It tasted like…. what a Manhattan would typically taste like at most bars I’ve gone to. I’d suggest opting for another cocktail treat as the price suggests (to me) that it was going to be something unique. I think it was probably just paying for the special whiskey used, but it didn’t elevate the drink IMO.All in all, this place is popular for a reason - they’re killing it here! ?????

This is a high end classy restaurant ? Wonderful staff and service. The pork shank is to DIE for. The meat falls right off the bone with a delicious creamy sauce. Basically melts in your mouth. Do yourself a favor and get this. The biscuit looks small in the picture but easily feeds two people. Drizzled in a delicious honey bakked to perfection. The cauliflower cooked starter tastes like an elevated General Tso chicken but replaced with cauliflower. Breaded nicely with a beautiful plating of peppers and beans. The winner is the featured New York Times desert caramel pudding! Yummmm. This was too good. We were already stuffed but heard such good reviews we had to get it. We licked the bowl clean ?Love this place. Definitely recommend it.

After various disappointments in SLC, I had an absolutely outstanding dinner at HSL. The food was absolutely divine. The drinks were amazing and my server was very gentle and earnest. This was a highlight of my dining experience this year and I would love to come back whenever I will be back in town.

Been going here for years. The seasonal menu and cocktails always make for a nice refresh. Cauliflower, pork shank, fried chicken, biscuits, mushrooms, hamachi, any of the cocktails. Anything on the menu is delish. Service is great. Wine menu is solid. Usually can swing in and can get bar seating without reservations.

This was our second time here. I dont recall anything about the first time. It definitely wasn't memorable though, but we needed a place to eat that was close to an event. We made reservations and went with some friends of ours. It was a Saturday night, so understandably busy. It took quite a while to get drinks, but the cocktail were good when they arrived. The food however was so so and definitely not worth the price IMO. Two of our party got the mushroom dish at $22 per. One got the flatbread which was around $20 as well and I got fried chicken at $38. The fried chicken itself was decent. Crispy with a little heat to it. It came with a side of greens and rice/beans. Greens were good, but the rice/beans lacked any flavor. There was nothing about the dish that made it worth that price though. The mushroom dish was OK, but also lacking in flavor. For 4 people with 1 drink each, before tip was $172. There are many good restaurant options these days in Salt Lake City where you can get better food for those prices

Service and atmosphere are good. Food was mostly bad (Pasta is bland, Duck was tough). Only good dish was cauliflower appetizer and biscuit appetizer. The kicker is the price, which is ridiculous for the quality of the food.

Was recommended this place by a foodie friend. Came here to celebrate our anniversary. The food was great. Luckily we were warned about the higher prices before going. The flavors were delicious and the roulette cocktails were fun and tasty.

Great service, great ambiance, but the food is really hit or miss. The pork belly and cauliflower were both great, while the hamachi and brussel sprouts were disappointing. Generally, the quality to price mismatch was significant (epitomized by the pasta).

HSL has been on my list to try for quite sometime. I finally made a Valentines day reservation for my wife and I.Upon entry the vibe is hip with cool music and everyone in good spirits. Our waitress was fun and personable and took great care of us.We selected the cauliflower which was cooked similar to general tsos style. It had a little kick of spicy and was super flavorful. The next appetizer was a burrata squash which we liked even better still. I had the pasta and my wife had the chicken. Both were loaded with flavor. The pasta was house made and good and the chicken juicy, spicy and sweet. I can't remember the name, but the desert was incredible too. (See photo)My wife can be a little picky buy loved HSL. I loved HSL. I think you probably will too.

Maybe I’m missing something here or it was an off night, but it was just okay. Presentation of dishes was excellent, service was good, and the ambience was upbeat.BeginningThe highlight for flavors was the biscuit. Salt and honey paired well together. Bourbon and gin drinks were pleasing to the eye, were good, but not great. The meat and cheese platter lacked a sweetness to counterbalance the salt (eg- maybe a fig jam).MiddleCauliflower’s flavor had the most depth of flavor from our dishes but was on the chewy side. Fried chicken was juicy but lacked the intensity I was expecting in comparison to the biscuit. I was actually blown away by the execution of the collard greens on the plate…texture and balance of sweet/savory was beautiful. But to be raving about the accompaniment rather than the centerpiece says something.EndThe normal bar dessert was okay. Nothing big on flavor and lacked enough crumbs on top to really make a difference. All things considered, the food was okay to good and did not live up to the hype that made us want to go in the first place.
