Service was aright. Not good, not bad, just plain take your order and get your food. Food was alright also, not the best, not the worst. Nice decor though. I wouldn't deny going back.

The food here was really bad, ordered Chile relleno, had two bites and left without finishing the meal. Did not taste fresh at all, it looked like food was just thrown on a plate and microwaved with grocery store shredded cheese. The sauce tasted like it was staight from a can. Did not have any flavor or seasoning I would expect from a Mexican restaurant.
The food was good, definitely coming back

My Chimichanga cost $24, but the menu said it would cost close to 15. Not a mistake, just the biggest list of hidden charges I've seen in my life:
$3 for extra tomato/olive (price not on the menu)
22% mandatory gratuity for groups over 6 (they require tips on taxes). This is about 2% higher than the tipping amount the menu describes...

I'm disappointed today as I have a food allergy in made it very clear show. Cabbage no chili's.,, my first bite had cabbage. Just from one bite they just about killed me.

Really good authenic mexican food. Their lunch specials are good and priced reasonable for lunch. Chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. Yummy! Hard to stop eating those. Service might be a little slow, but the ladies are super nice and friendly. They all seem happy. I love it there.

My mom said the chicken fajita chimichanga was hands down the best one she’s ever had. After eating a third of hers I must agree

I've been eating at LaCocina for at least 40 years (started with #1 on State Street). I actually worked there during my college years. Now every time I am back in SLC, I go eat there at least one night.
Food is great! Prices are very reasonable! Staff and owners are wonderful!!
