The service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. It took 25 minutes to even be greeted by our waitress. The food was great and drinks were good, but the lack of service for this price and this level of dining really questions whether I'll ever go back.

Our reservation was at 6:30. We planned to have a lovely dinner with drinks over an hour and a half +. We ordered a drink and appetizer and within 15 mins had dinner in the table as well. Bland food, check was delivered and we were out in less than 45 mins. Extremely disappointed. We won't return.

Excellent food and excellent service. Starting with the friendly and knowledgeable waitress and then on to appetizers and entrees, this restaurant added a lot of flair and culinary care to typical Mexican food.

Loved our dinner at Monarca last night! I was a little sad to see some of my favorites removed from the updated menu, but still plenty of delicious options. They had a beet/honey margarita as their specialty drink, and it was amazing!! Ceviche was perfect as always. Great evening with great food and spot on service! Thanks!

Convienent downtown location for business travelers with friendly service and great selection of entrees. Excellent Mole sauce!

Well we had a reservation for two people, and there was no table when we arrived and we could only sit at the bar which seemed to defeat the point of making a reservation. The bar turned out to be much quieter than the rest of the restaurant so that actually worked out in the end, but there was not even an apology for not having a table for when we had a reservation. The food was excellent and so were the cocktails. The bartender kept asking if we wanted to close out our bill which is the exact opposite of what a server would do at a table. I'm not sure what that was all about. Overall it seemed like a good place for Salt Lake City.

Stopped in for dinner for the first time based on glowing reviews. Our server, Bryan, was very attentive, however, the food was below average. We had a salad with fig sauce and sesame dressing, the halibut prepared with zucchini blossom cream sauce and poblano peppers, and the Mar y Tierra tacos. I recognize that busy kitchens need to prepare much in advance, but nothing we ate felt chef-prepared as the restaurant would like you to believe. The mixed greens on our salad were straight from a food service bag, with a quick drizzle of overly-sweet fig sauce. My halibut was overcooked and dry - I couldn’t even slide a fork through it. The sauce seemed prepared potentially a day in advance and warmed up. My husband’s tacos also had overcooked steak that wasn’t flavorful and was about what you’d get at Chipotle in terms of being prepared and warmed for too long. Overall, felt the experience was quite disappointing besides the good server.

I celebrated my birthday here and as usual, the food was excellent. If you like Mexican with a more upscale preparation, this is your place. Claudia and Alfonso (the owners) have created something special.

Public shout out to Bryan, who was an excellent server. Chips and salsa were served promptly, followed by perfectly timed appetizers that we were able to enjoy before the entrees came out (my recent experience in many restaurants is that they bring the appetizers out late, so you barely have a chance to start eating them before the entrees are served).

Entrees came out perfectly temped and while we were done in about 45 minutes, we never felt rushed.

We dined as a party of 10. Only one server was assigned to our group. A number of our dishes were over-cooked (Carne, halibut, lamb). My dish arrived 5 minutes after everyone else's and was a small portion. In all, quality of dishes were not worthy of their cost.
