A friend recommended that we go to Monarca and I am so glad we heeded his advice. The food was absolutely creative, delicious, and well presented. I wish I lived here because I would go for sure on a weekly basis. We had the guacamole, chips and salsa, Elote dip and queso for our starters. Wonderful flavors and beautifully presented. Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed their entrées. Josh, our server, was so kind, professional, and met our every need. I can't wait to go back. Good work Monarca team!

Get the Birria tacos or Quesadillas. Absolutely delicious! Joshua was our server. Professional, knowledgeable, punctual, and personable. A "must go" restaurant in SLC.

We had a Sat. 6:30pm reservation for 4. Restaurant was busy, crowded, and loud (difficult to hear conversation at our own table). By 8pm there were several open tables and it was much quieter. Food portions (except for chips and salsa) were generous. Drinks were unique and tasty but a bit higher priced that expected. Ceviche and shrimp were fresh and tasty. Shrimp tacos and Suizas enchiladas also good. Shared appetizer + meal = too full for dessert. The (Spanish?) rice was the best tasting I've ever had at a restaurant. Would recommend and visit again during quieter time.

I'm heartbroken by the experience. The menu looked great and other reviews seemed promising. Maybe it was because it was Mother's Day and the restaurant was busy but the moment my date and I arrived to our 6:30pm reservation, we were sat closer to 7pm. Not a major deal. It was everything after that that made the entire experience subpar. We didn't have anyone checking or taking our orders until 45 minutes after sitting. The food took another while to come out. Excited to see our guacamole, we dove in. It tasted like nothing was seasoned. Bummer. After another 30+ minutes, our entrees came out. I got the pollo plate with mushrooms. It was sad. Chicken had no flavor. The mushroom and cream sauce was ok. My date got tacos. There wasn't much there. The lemonade was good and the mimosas were great but that's about it. For the price I paid, for the portion and experience I got, I rate this place 4/10. You can definitely find better tasting and better pricing food elsewhere. Save your money and time. We definitely will not be back. Edit: after scrolling through more of the reviews, it looks like it wasn't because of Mother's Day that the experience was bad, seems like service and bland food is served there often. Again, save your money and find a better place.

The food and drinks are excellent. Not only is everything delicious, but the presentation, including the plates, is beautiful. I had the opportunity to visit the restaurant the day before my reservation and requested a change in the time, which they gladly accommodated. They were also kind enough to help me with seating arrangements

The service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. It took 25 minutes to even be greeted by our waitress. The food was great and drinks were good, but the lack of service for this price and this level of dining really questions whether I'll ever go back.

Our reservation was at 6:30. We planned to have a lovely dinner with drinks over an hour and a half +. We ordered a drink and appetizer and within 15 mins had dinner in the table as well. Bland food, check was delivered and we were out in less than 45 mins. Extremely disappointed. We won't return.

Loved our dinner at Monarca last night! I was a little sad to see some of my favorites removed from the updated menu, but still plenty of delicious options. They had a beet/honey margarita as their specialty drink, and it was amazing!! Ceviche was perfect as always. Great evening with great food and spot on service! Thanks!
