Our server Gordon was great, food was really good, our margaritas were awesome. Birria tacos, mole enchiladas, spicy marg, peach marg. My only complaint is the food seems a little expensive. I'd go again though.

Had a wonderful experience at Monarca. The location, decorations, table settings were excellent. We had a large group, and despite the difficulty, the service was excellent for speed, and paying attention to detail. Enjoyed guacamole, queso, and chips and salsa appetizers. The issue with the food was with my main dish was Octopus Tacos. However it was missing key ingredients from the description and photo of the dish: there were no tomatoes and mandarins on the tacos. It was only the octopus and aoli sauce. Seems like a large miss on not finishing the plating. That said, the sauce was a delicious flavor. The octopus tasted wonderful. I was surprised and how perfect the texture was. I'm sure if I had asked about the tacos, they'd have made it right. I was just in a hurry, and didn't ask. Overall it's a wonderful restaurant, and I'd go again.

Nice meal delivered yet again! Monarca is worth it, and their staff is very accommodating even when something appears to not go right.

Food was very good, but service was rushed — the mains arrived about five minutes after the appetizers (and there wasn't enough room on the table for all of the plates). Had the courses been better spaced, my rating would have been “Excellent”.

When Monarca opened it was exciting to see a restaurant close to authentic Mexican food. Something changed , the food was flavorless, the portions shrunk and the overall appeal quickly faded. Not the best Mexican food in SLC for sure. P.s. born and raised in Mexico here.

Food is good with lots of options. The price is a bit high compared to other places I wouldn't say the food is any better than most any other Mexican places. The rice is bland and needs help. Service was great!I prefer our local taco shop with better flavors and price, but we had a nice experience for a work dinner.

Food was good , but service was very slow and aloof. The place seemed chaotic, and there is too much background noise and music to have a good conversation.Parking: Lucky if to find street parking or paid parking few blocks away

The service and cuisine has severely declined from a year ago. We had to request service from another waiter to in order for our server to attend to our table. Our food seemed to have been lying around in the kitchen, almost like catering that had been left out for hours. Our birria tacos were soggy and our enchiladas were so basic, we could have made them at home. Such a shame from a local business. We dinned a year ago and couldn't stop raving about the food and service, alas we won't anymore.

The temperature was too warm, good portion sizes, gluten free items were not marked on the menu. In general, the menu was very poorly designed, just a single list with large pictures, the worst. The drinks took too long to arrive and the food was very fast. The pork was a little tough and the birria tacos were excellent. The ceviche was mid. Good, but ultimately too expensive for what you're getting. The drink description I ordered only had tequila, a liquor and espresso in it, but the one that arrived was huge and very sweet, so the descriptions are not too be trusted.
