on a biz trip on a snowy day, with my phone out of order, saw it on the car navigation and glad I chose this place. didn't know what to expect coming in bc my phone wasn't working but everything was really fresh and tasty. lunch meat options were really good. very thin slices of meat but that makes it easy to cook and tender. lots of unlimited seafood, veggie, noodle options. Last call for meat only 15 mins after i got situated but they allowed me to order however many orders of meat I wanted, and they kept the salad bar open until i left. I could've kept eating bc there are so many things to eat even after I was done with the meat, but I had to catch my flight... initially the broth took a long time to heat up and start boiling to cook food but after it started to boil it was kept hot. Mr shabu broth was a bit high in sodium but I just added my water to replenish and make it less salty server forgot my appetizer order (appetizers are also ayce) but kitchen was already closed when I realized. however it was fine without those extra orders as there's plenty of yummy food available. overall very satisfied!

This is one of my new favorite Japanese restaurants! ? As somebody who's tried Utah's best and Nevada's best Japanese, this holds against some of the best. And they'll just randomly throw discounts out at you out of the good of their hearts sometimes. I wish this place the best forever!

If you have ever had hot pot in Beijing or Taiwan then you will be disappointed here. The hot pot broth had tomato paste in it (and no hint of ma - sichuan pepper). The majiang (sesame sauce) wasn’t anything close to sesame. It was 5x sugar and 1 part sesame paste. Need to drop the sugar in it DRASTICALLY! The meats were nice but worried they were too thawed. The fresh bar had many options and the veggies were nice. Overall if you have never had anything like this, it’s ok. But if you are looking for authentic hot pot and flavors, this sadly misses the mark.

I was in Salt Lake City for my daughter's birthday. Had the b'day cake from a bakery but the did not give us silverware or plates. I ran into Mr Shabu's and they gladly provided us for plates and silverware.... They were extremely kind and made our day.
