I just walked here from my hotel, based on yelp showing that they are open and they've been closed since December for renovations, according to the sign on their door

They’re food is one the best in town, made from scratch in the kitchen and atmosphere has been very good

I’m a little fiend for unique fry selections and that is precisely why Purgatory is my go to bar whenever I’m in Salt Lake. Particularly their KBBQ and Truffle Fries were emotional experiences for me. It’s a fun atmosphere and my favorite Utah bar.

This place was amazing! We loved everything and tried a bunch of the menu options. Will definitely go again.

Overall, pretty mid. I've gone a couple times and and once for brunch with friends. The service on all occasions took a while. The food is good (not a lot of vegetarian options). I'd say it's definitely better to go in the summer when the patio is open and there is more seating. They have some fun cocktails and a cool plant wall for photos but yeah, maybe a little overrated

I've been hearing that they closed their bar down right before Christmas. This is one of many questionable business practices by this company. They own Sapa sushi, dragonfly, and fat fish. I encourage everybody to not visit these establishments. Very disappointed that a place I loved would treat their employees so terribly.

Terrible management.Shutting down a bar that was pretty successful, and firing all their employees days before the Christmas. There were actually some people who cared for Purgatory. I won’t be supporting any other business that is owned by Sapa and I call for everyone else to follow my footsteps

We only had drinks at the bar. They have a good selection of signature cocktails.

Merry Christmas.

They’re closing tomorrow and didn’t give employees hardly any notice. They also own other restaurants in the area. If you don’t want to support a company that does this to service workers right before Christmas, you can check out Sapa Investment’s website and click “portfolio” to see the names of other restaurants of theirs you shouldn’t support.

Amazing service and food. Unfortunately it's owned by a predatory investment group that fired the entire staff with a week's notice right before Christmas. You will never build a successful business treating people like that.

I visited a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to learn they have the same owner as Sapa because the service was terrible. We sat at the bar and our server acted like he could not be bothered. There were two other servers behind the bar who we had to wave down to get any service like utensils to eat. Our server disappeared towards the end the of meal. There was no explanation and he never came back for the drinks I ordered. This all happened after we waited over an hour to get our brunch. Truly disappointing. The food was fine, but not worth the wait or the careless staff.
