I see why there is long a wait here every night. The food we had today was spectacular! We've experienced Tex-Mex in Austin and Cal-Mex in Southern California. Red Iguana more than holds it own against those two famous areas of the country for Mexican cuisine. This place looks like a hole in the wall from all the stickers on the door and windows, but don't let those fool you. This establishment serves up world-class Mexican food. This is a must visit restaurant in Salt Lake City.

The food was yummy, good portion size and flavorful. Service was a bit slow and not great but we weren’t in a great hurry. Make sure you get what you like order.

Whoa. The past reviews do not lie. This is the place for authentic food with fantastic service. The red Sangria is amazing. The chips and salsa alone are worth it. The decor inside is fun! It there is a line, just wait as it's worth it and normally they move it pretty quickly. Even at 9pm we had to wait a few minutes before our red eye flight left and so glad we did. Best way to end your trip to SLC!

Tony was our waiter and he was amazing. Service was exceptional, food was wonderful, and we loved the atmosphere. Best Mexican food we’ve had. Lots of food options and several gluten free options. If we travel back we will be visiting again.

Really good food! Ordered the red iguana plate and horchata, both of which were amazing! The sopapilla plates for dessert are delicious but quit large so bring your appetite. Highly recommend.

This place lived up to its expectations! This is a very different Mexican restaurant compared to others. The waitress helped us to choose vegetarian option from their large menu and also recommended mole sauce according to our dietary preferences! We would definitely visit again!

I would definitely make a reservation here as there is often a long wait outside on the street. The food was great and so was the service and atmosphere.

This place is awesome. You wait outside like your getting into a secret club, and then inside is warm and colorful with pictures of birds and Frida everywhere. Their food is some of the best I have had in the city. The staff are pretty and nice. I had a big fish with a lime juice sauce on it. It was amazing.

Red Iguana's legendary food is no secret. Make sure you make a reservation so that you don't have to wait outside for an hour! The chips and salsa are some of the best I have had. The chips are light, cripsy, and salted just right. The salsa is smooth and somewhat thick. Texture-wise, it was perfection!I ordered the enchiladas suizas with rice and beans. The rice and beans were nothing to hit home about, but the enchiladas...... STRAIGHT ?! THEY WERE THAT GOOD!The chicken was perfectly, cooked and very juicy! The avocado wasn't overwhelming and it was piled on wet & wild, with their sweet, tangy, exquisite mole poblano!I have lived in New Mexico for a year and a half now, and color me disappointed. I have had a couple of enchiladas there that came close, but don't hold a candle to Red Iguana.10/10. Well done!
