Excellent coffee and a great environment with lots of seating. Warm wood tones and plenty of sunlight make it a good place to hangout. Staff was very friendly.

The coffee itself was good. However, there was a weird and unpleasant smell when we visited, and it kept lingering around. The smell even stuck to our clothes and hair. The restroom was clean.
Awesome “3rd place” hangout vibe. Great coffee!

Misuse of religion for personal profit
As a home coffee drinker from Indonesia, I have tried many coffee beans from various locations and coffee roasters throughout the country. I have also tried some coffee shops near downtown SLC.
Salt Lake Roasting Co. is different. They offer a vast selection of beans from Africa, Asia, my country, Indonesia, and South America. This is an advantage because you can try to find varieties of coffee from around the world and mix them.
Tips for coffee drinkers:
1. Identify your preference: Do you like bold coffee or fruity? Or, like me, 60% bold and 40% fruity?
2. Ask the barista which matches your preferences, or you can mix your favorites.
3. Buy pour-over coffee and ask to use 50% Brazil/Sumatra for a bold taste, and 50% Ethiopia/Peru/Any fruity beans to add a fruity taste. You can mix anything you want and match any ingredients to create
So my point is, drinking coffee doesn't mean you need to drink what the barista serves. At Salt Lake Roasting Co., you can have an adventure of taste.
Tips for Home Coffee Brewer:
Consult with John, the owner. Ask about your preferences. He is like a doctor who can recommend the perfect beans for you. He is a fantastic guy.
I think I like Ethiopia more than Bali, but he highly recommended that I should try Bali Natural. So, I trusted him and bought it, then brewed it at home. He also gave me a small amount of Ethiopian beans to test it.
And he is right! I really like Bali Natural compared to Ethiopian beans. (This is personal preference.) Bali Natural has a fruity taste, similar to the Bali Kintamani I usually drink in Indonesia. He roasted it well. He is a genius!
You can also get free beans after buying 9 times, if I'm not mistaken.

I love the atmosphere of this place but I swear, almost every time I come here my order is forgotten and I end up having to go ask for it again, even when it’s not busy at all. I totally understand, I have a bad memory sometimes too, but this is pretty persistent every time so I feel like yall might want to address this.

We had a wonderful time at this cafe we happened to stop by on our way to the Gilgal Sculpture Garden! The staff were all friendly — especially John, the owner of the cafe, who seemed sincerely passionate about coffee and was super welcoming. He even gave us recommendations about where to visit in the city, which we’re glad we added to our list! And Aspen the dog was incredibly adorable, she melted my heart 🥹
We just came for some morning coffee but the tables were also the perfect height to work at, which lots of people were doing. Overall, it’s the kind of cafe we’d frequent if we lived nearby and one we’ll definitely recommend everyone visiting SLC!! It was the perfect start to our trip and we’re very thankful we stopped by.
I love going here. It's an eclectic, casual atmosphere (lots of places to sit, cool loft) with lots of variety in the menu. It's consistently good and the staff are awesome. They are attentive and kind.
The matcha latte is my favorite item! And the quiche is also super good.

Great place to stop. Plenty of space of everyone and quite casual. Great mocha and a croissant nearly the size of my hand. We'll worth the stop despite the potential parking challenge.
