I travel to SLC frequently for work and every time I’m in town I visit Takashi, and every time it’s worth it. The experience, atmosphere, service, and delicious food is always on point. Highly recommend.

Definitely worth the wait! We sat at the sushi bar and it was fun to watch them prepare it in front of us. While I think most sushi places get their fish from the same vendors this place does seem a lot fresher and a step above the rest.

I love my usual sushi joints. My wife convinced me to come and wow. They knock it out of the park.

Been coming here for decades. Fantastic fresh sushi import from Japan 3 times a week. A gem in Salt Lake, like no other. The only issue is how busy it gets. But you can spend time in their bar next door while you wait or get there 15 min. before they open, on the weekends, so you can seat immediately. They do accept reservations for parties of 6 or more but you have to call as soon as they open.

Fish not sufficiently chilled or best grade for flavor therefore it's over priced; service is poor

just sat at a table for 15 minutes without anyone stopping by or taking an order for at least a beverage. would have been my first time but will not return.

THE BEST sushi restaurant ever!!!! Their sushi is just out of this world. Very expensive but also very good quality. It’s worth it, trust me. Service is okay, they are always very busy, usually they have a line of people on the front trying to get a table, so I get it, sometimes it’s very hard to give all customers a great service when the place is full of hungry people trying to order and wanting their food as fast as possible. Some of their dishes take a long time to make so be aware of this. But overall, is a very good place to eat a high quality sushi!

Delicious! We got there a couple minutes before they opened so we were able to get seated. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. We tried a variety of sushi items, and I was impressed how fresh the fish was. Everything was smooth and didn't have that overwhelmingly fishy flavor. There are a variety of options to try from seared fishes to uni. Lastly, we got the chocolate cake with black sesame ice cream. The cake was rich and ice cream was nutty and savory-- they paired well together. Living in Utah, it's really hard to find good sushi. This place is probably the best sushi I've had in this state.

the foods are always great. the server are always providing excellent services. the ambience is amazing. we ordered wagyu nikumaki, saikyo-miso sablefish, calamari, classic miso, spicy mussels with quail egg, toro truffle.

The food is good here! However a bit annoying that they charge an extra $1 for gluten free soy sauce since I have celiac and can’t have gluten. I’d understand if Tamari (gluten free soy sauce) was exponentially more than regular but the price is pretty comparable. Other sushi places in the area are very accommodating and do not make extra charges for gluten free items.

They have a great selection of different sushi rolls -- I loved the salmon skin and the sunshine rolls. To drink, the Utah Press mocktail was very refreshing! I also enjoyed the mango mousse for dessert. Bird was very kind and attentive during my visit and made the dining experience flow smoothly. The restaurant is usually bustling during their dinner hours (on any day of the week) since they don't take reservations, but it's worth waiting for a table if you can. Be aware that the building is quite small, so the tables and chairs are close together and it can be loud. However, it is a nice spot for a fun dinner date or to catch up with friends. Overall, it's one of my favorite restaurants in the downtown Salt Lake area!

Takashi has a wide selection of fresh nigiris and really delicious menu options outside of raw fish as well! I'm from Hawaii and I really miss getting fresh sashimi, and this is the closest to home maguro I can get. This place is PACKED at dinner, and there's usually a 1-2 hour wait. I suggest coming at lunch on weekdays if you're looking for a quick fish fix!
