Had to put my truck in the shop for at least the weekend and nothing cheers this Texan up like a real Mexican restaurant. Fajitas were great , even the karaoke was not half bad sadly it has been a rough week and my Spanglish broke. Was pleasantly surprised at the corn in the rice since I thought that was a regional thing back home. Only minor dings were no tea or refried beans but will be here at least a few days and will be back.

This was our first time here and we were very disappointed. Food is disgusting and the place is ridiculously overpriced. We ordered 2 aguachiles, a shrimp cocktail, molcajete, and a plate of the birria quesadilllas. 5 plates and our total was over 180. They charge you 4% for using card and fail to mention it at any point and just say it was on the menu. It is a bit inconsiderate not to casually mention it to the customers as it’s often overlooked. Aside from that the food does not justify the price. This was the worst aguachiles I’ve ever had. The juice just taste like lime from the bottle. Sour with no spice and the shrimps were not clean and tasted dirty. Molcajetes typically always have charred onions and jalapeños, this one did not. Again worst molcajete we’ve had. The meat taste old and flavorless. No one was able to finish their plate, the food just seems improvised and sloppy. I don’t recommend this place. You are better off going elsewhere!

There was a hair in the food and guacamole. The lady over charged us. Not a good experience. I wouldn't recommend this place. 2 large auga, guacamole, 1 mole plates & 1 green enchilada plate. Chicken was like old, burnt and tasted gross. We paid $60.

My favorite taco place- a little pricey but definitely worth it in my opinion. the pastor tacos are my favorite- they’re served with pineapple & pickled onion absolutely heavenly. My husband rates the chilaquiles burrito a 5/10

Amazing food! Really clean and modern looking inside, a pretty sizable menu and everything we ordered tasted delicious. Also, the cashier was very pleasant and they have PUNCH CARDS! Also they're open super late which is a big deal for SLC.

During my visit it seemed to be mostly locals dining in which is usually a good sign. The ambiance was authentic, with unique decor especially. The servers were kind and attentive throughout our meal. The food was solid but basic. I'm a big spice guy so I was hoping for more flavor. If you like the basics though this is a good option!
This Restaurant doesn't just offer the best chicken in Utah. They have the most delicious asada and birria tacos. The owner of the restaurant is very welcoming and friendly & the waitress are go above and beyond attending the customers. They are very helpful in recommending the most asked for dishes. I would recommend el Gallo loco to anyone looking for delicious authentic Mexican food.

I ordered the molcajete for dinner tonight and had a very unappetizing dinner! We paid over $60 for low quality food. The cuts of meat were so tiny they blended in with the soggy and burnt onions… The chicken also were not great. The taste was fine but the texture of the meat ruined it!! Would not recommend… have had too many bad experiences with this restaurant.

Wow! This place is a hidden gem. Very authentic Mexican cuisine. The chips and salsa are fantastic! Guacamole dynamite! Cheese and chorizo is so good. We ordered two whole chickens seasoned and cooked with a mix of all 4 flavors and fell in love. It was made to perfection, so flavourful. The owner was so nice, he gave us a churro and ice cream dessert for free. It was outstanding! I wish they opened a new location close to were I reside in Holladay/Millcreek area. They would kill it! I highly recommend! You won't be disappointed!
