Used to be a go to, but been having far too many negative experiences as of late. Sayonara.
The People’s Coffee is one of those rare coffee shops that make you feel seen. It’s not just a place to grab a latte (though the lattes are amazing). It’s a place where you can slow down, feel grounded, and be reminded that kindness still exists in the world.
Omar has created something truly special. He greets people with genuine care, remembers names and stories, and somehow makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
The baristas are just as wonderful—friendly, talented, and clearly proud to be part of this place. You can feel the difference it makes.
And the coffee is exceptional.
The People’s Coffee is a little pocket of community, comfort, and connection. It’s one of my happy places, and I’m so grateful it exists.

Great coffee shop to read or get some work done on a laptop. Staff is friendly and makes good drinks. Would make a great spot for brunch or breakfast and even lunch. I highly recommend this spot.
Edit: still a really great place for coffee and breakfast or lunch. After coming here though (2 years), something changed because baristas are not as friendly when chatting while ordering. Idk the vibe in there is different, maybe it's the summer heat. Still one of the top cafes in salt lake. Just don't chat with the baristas.

My partner and I stopped by The People’s Coffee while we were in the city, and it was definitely worth it! The drinks and food were delicious (with a good amount of veg and vegan options), our server was friendly and amicable to requests, and the ambience was perfect. TPC is 100% worth a visit, whether you live in Central City or beyond!

New favorite coffee place! Super accessible, delicious drinks, food, and everyone that works there brings good energy. Keep an eye out for their monthly specials too
Came one time, coffee was literally room temperature
Their coffee is really good, and the service is even better. I haven’t had a bad experience yet. Only reason for the 4 starts instead of 5 and i do feel the coffee menus is limited unless you specifically choose off their current seasonal item, or ask. Outside of that! The coffee is great!

The People's Coffee is a one-of-a-kind gem in Downtown SLC! Omar and his staff go above and beyond to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Whether you're looking to grab a quick to-go order, or sit down for a work/study sesh, you'll be glad you chose to come here.
The coffee is excellent. I've ordered everything from Flat Whites to Matcha to Drip and it all comes out with exceptional quality. The food menu incorporates fun seasonal ingredients and the quality is consistently great as well.
The surrounding community is really fortunate to have a small business that cares about enriching the social fabric of its neighborhood by hosting special events such as comedy shows, supporting local artists, and treating the unhoused with respect. Go with confidence and prepare to have your day brightened by interactions with staff and customers. Happy people hang out at The People's Coffee.
