This was an unpleasant experience from beginning to end. Firstly, a credit card hold was required, something occasionally done in fine dining. This was not a fine dining experience. You have to walk through a sports bar atmosphere and wait to be escorted downstairs. While the decor is dark and moody, the noise level is very high and there is not an upscale feel. Secondly, the cocktails were amateur. A dirty martini was mostly vermouth and a bees knees was mostly lemon juice. Smaller Utah pours for liquor have to be adapted with less of the other ingredients or the cocktail is very off. Thirdly, there should be a clear explanation upon reservation, especially when conducting a hold, that an entree may take an hour to prepare. Such is the case for the beer can chicken. The wedge salad we ordered was served as a head of lettuce with a red pasty substance applied to the ends of the leaves. It tasted very odd and we exited at that point. Our waitress was lovely. One star is for her!
Always a great experience. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about cocktails. Food is top notch and the vinyl selection is perfectly eclectic. Go on Wednesday for a tarot reading.
Jess was fantastic! She recommended entree and side pairings, and had a great sense of humor. Our pork shoulder and scallops were both excellent, and each cocktail was nicely balanced. Save room for dessert!
Ambience was great and it has a lot of potential but the service needs work as well as rhe food.
Best pork I’ve ever had, Eric the bartender is absolutely in it as well, great experience overall. Check it out if you can!
Easy and convenient reservation process . The Rest is a very interesting space. The ambiance and service is outstanding. The food and cocktails were great.
I used to really like this place but was very disappointed when we last visited. The bodega is completely different and the rest no longer feels like a speakeasy. I was disappointed that the table decorations are all gone but mostly I was disappointed in the service and the over all experience. We were not served our drinks for more than 30 minutes after sitting down to our reservation. Our server was too busy chatting with friends to take care of any of his tables.
The food was great, but our server goofed that all up too. We order two dishes that needed to be served with crackers or bread but he did not suggest ordering anything along with them. It ended up being fine because we did order the bread and butter that ended up being the last thing delivered to our table.
I cannot believe that the owners would hire such poor service with how expensive the food is.
Food wise, everything we tried was amazing including salmon, burger, and the chicken. Very nice decor and atmosphere. Beer options very limited but I bet they are famous for their cocktails. Service wise, we had to wait 20 minutes while we had a reservation. That was the only downside but we will be definitely back.
I have loved The Rest for years and the beer can chicken still doesn't disappoint. They have remodeled upstairs, and it's isn't quite as much of an experience to enter the speakeasy, but once inside it is still a relaxing and moody environment with vinyl records adding to the vibe. I was disappointed that a $55 chicken no longer includes anything but, well... chicken. No potatoes and veggie like years past. Also, beware of the hummus. While very tasty, it doesn't come with anything to dip in it so unless you prefer to eat your hummus with a spoon, plan on ordering an additional side. I had really hyped up the old fashion flight that they used to offer, and sadly that is no longer on the menu either. The drinks were all on point but basically, they now charge you for every possible thing you can imagine. Still a great experience overall, but be prepared to drop some cash.
My partner at I went here for a little date night. She got the burger and I got the mitake, then shared the beignets. Decently good! A little on the pricey side but the service and ambiance was very cozy and nice :)! Our server Lexi was training and did great! She was super attentive and nice, which made our experience all the more better! Definitely recommend swinging in for a cozy date night or a little cocktail time!

A place with an intimate, mysterious atmosphere, perfect for those looking for something out of the ordinary. The dim lighting creates a sense of intrigue from the moment you walk in. The cocktails are handcrafted, perfectly balanced, and stylishly presented.
The service is attentive without being intrusive, with thoughtful recommendations and a warm smile. Ideal for a date night or a quiet evening with friends. Definitely a place I’d come back to.
Drinks were great. Steamed buns were dried out and underwhelming in flavor. Warm potato salad was simple but good. The atmosphere was fun, I enjoyed the music choices of playing a variety of 2000s to current pop from vinyls. We made reservations to get in on a Friday night after arriving from out of town, we ate some time around 9 and were able to easily park in a nearby ramp. I would go back for the drinks, but not sure I would order food to try anything beyond the potato salad at this point.
They are so strict with their reservations and expect the patrons to be on time but they don’t honor their own system. We showed up a few minutes early to our reservation and weren’t seated for 45 minutes past our reservation time. Once sat, no one talked to us for another 20 minutes. We had to ask for a menu, none was offered. We had to ask for utensils, none were offered. Food was good but the lack of service overshadowed it. And then they were trying to rush us out the door. Also the pop music playing was very loud.
Great ambience and tasty food/drink. I just wished service would have been a bit more attentive for a birthday dinner
Honestly bad experience. I've been to this spot before a few years ago and it was great but this time seemed like they've just fallen apart. We waited an hour and a half for food (no, we didn't order any of the items that take that long to cook). The staff was slow and not very attentive - it was a Tuesday and not crowded or all that busy. The space was very loud and over priced for such poor service. I also had asked for something special for a birthday ahead of time in my reservation and didn't get anything. I would have gladly paid for a dessert or something but by the time we finally got our food we were just ready to get out of there and be done.
