I was a big fan of tradition specifically because of their staff. I'm not from Salt Lake but would come to Utah EXCLUSIVELY to visit tradition staff. It was incredibly disappointing to hear that the ENTIRE workforce was terminated with no notice due to the owners poor planning regarding their sale of the place. Disgusting behavior and unacceptable treatment of employees

Incredible experience! The menu options are so unique and seem to have an Asian flair on traditional American dishes. Chicken and dumplings was a beautiful almost light curry soup with incredible dumplings. My wife’s eggplant tonkatsu had incredible flavor and being gluten free was the cherry on top! Chicken wing appetizers were great and the environment was amazing. This will be an anniversary tradition for our family and I can’t wait to show others! Location across from liberty park is amazing too.

Food was excellent, fun menu. We enjoyed the vibe and the staff was extremely patient with our large group. Would definitely go again, especially because I still haven't tried the funeral potatoes!

We sat in the bar for dinner tonight and while the food was superb, the service was horrible. We waited an extended amount of time to place an order, , she was inattentive and found her phone of more importance. Not sure we will be going back anytime soon.

Cat in the window is god-tier entertainment.

Unfortunately they were out of their chicken and dumplings. I also much preferred the winter salad last year. The winter salad this year was not nearly as good — the greens aren't very well dressed, and the large lump of squash in the middle is not visually appealing at all. Bring back the old winter salad! I appreciated the new mock tail menu.

We had the chicken Marsala and the short rib. The service was incredible, the food was absolutely amazing, the only downside would have to be the desert options, they offer a brownie with ice cream, the brownie tasted stale and the Carmel sauce on top of it was way to much, no balance to the desert at all. Which is surprising compared to the attention to detail on the entree's, from the cocktails, appetizers, and entree's they are spot on, skip the dessert though

My cousin and her husband were in town from LA for a night so we took them to Tradition for dinner. They eat out. A LOT. And good food too. They're totally D.I.N.Ks (Dual income no kids) and they like good food and good drinks. He said his burger was better than the fancy place they go to in LA and she said her short ribs were amazing. Of course we enjoyed our food too (actually got the same as them because we know we like it). But I was so pleased that they liked it better than their usual spot back home. I think I got the gentlemen and a scholar cocktail and it was so yummy. We didn't get much besides the entrees but have in the past and have always thoroughly enjoyed everything. We don't eat out a ton but always love when we make it over to Tradition.

I got fried green tomatoes and chicken Marsalis. The food was good and the service was great.I went here because as I was driving for UTA they showed me compassion and allowed me to use the restroom where others would not. I will be great full for the kindness the worker showed me.Thank you for everything and I enjoyed myself trying this restaurant.Parking: The parking is limited but it was snowing I had no problems parking due to not many wanting to be out in the snow.

Poor service. Two out of three dishes in my party were spectacular, one was not. Seats by the door are cold and prone to drafts.

Our first visit to Tradition was very good. We liked the ambiance and were seated in a cozy table in corner. Our server, Merwin, was friendly, but I could see how his sarcasm could be taken with other guests. He wasn't specific on our questions about menu choices and said we'd have to come back next time to try something else. However, we really liked what we chose. The cornbread, brussels and funeral potatoes to start were delicious, as was the chicken marsala. The chicken & dumplings was good, but the dumplings were a little dry. We had heard/read that Tradition is known for their pie, so we were a little disappointed that the only dessert option was a brownie w/ ice cream. It did not disappoint thought...the brownie was warm and gooey and the caramel was out of this world. We will be back for a second try!

Food was excellent, especially chicken wings, funeral potatoes and meatloaf. Cocktails were good. Service was excellent. But I'm not a fan of the community table. We had a reservation for 2 and we were initially seated at the end of community table next to the door. We asked to move to a two-top away from the door, which they kindly accommodated after some time. But even sitting further from the door, the restaurant was cold. In addition, we could feel the cold breeze every time the door opened. Disappointing to have to eat a delicious dinner in the cold. But everything else was great. I recommend this restaurant. Just be sure to wear a couple layers.

Service was remarkably bad, but I was impressed by the options on the menu. 2 of our 3 entrees were impressive. None of the servers were very helpful and we all had empty drinks for 20 minutes. Food took an hour+ with no warning. Really wanted to like this place!
