Good Italian at a very steep price. I'm not sure it is 100% worth it.

I canceled my reservation after having a less than friendly reception with the woman working at the front. I imagine the food would have been good, but the lighting seemed way too bright for such a highbrow joint.

I always thought that all Valter did was meet and greet diners, but on my first visit since Valter’s passing I realize he was the guiding force for the quality of the meal. Posthumously the house-made pasta has gone from excellent to not even worth finishing. I’ve had better sauce from a jar. My grouper entree was flavorless and overcooked to the point of being rubbery, as were the accompanying clams and mussels. My wife had the lasagna and said she has had better lasagna from the grocery freezer aisle. Save your money and go to Macaroni Grill if you want Italian food.

The food was fresh and authentically Italian. Particularly the bread with garlic oil. The gnocchi was okay but over salted and the sauce very rich, I felt it was overpriced for something I could easily make at home. The service was okay but I had to wait 20 min for a table despite making a reservation. Overall the experience was positive but overpriced.

My partner had made 8p reservations around the time Valter's opened at 5:30p. In fairness, we arrived around 5-7 minutes late trying to find parking in the rain and checked in with the Hostess, no problem. Got a drink at the bar while we waited, and waited, and waited. We had a reservation and weren't sat until 9! An entire hour waiting WITH a reservation. On a Tuesday. There were multiple groups in our same boat who had arrived a little after us with 8:30p reservations and were told "Your tables have paid we are just waiting for them to leave". I'm all for not kicking people out, but if you can't deliver on your end of a required reservation because tables aren't leaving, you shouldn't be offering them to others.Once we were sat, table side service and the food were great. I ordered the one glass of Pinot on the menu which was fantastic and ordered another. I swear the second glass was a different wine and we were going back and forth wondering if the food had changed our taste? The waiters were SO incredibly accommodating and brought us out another wine to compare, which they did comp us on.We still were disappointed that nothing besides the one glass of wine was comped for us having to wait so long. The most frustrating thing was the Hostess didn't engage with all who were waiting and only started to apologize around the 50 minute mark. Other walk ins were asking how long of a wait and were being told "20-30 minutes". We were honestly astounded she could say such a thing when we still hadn't been sat and continued to wait another half an hour.Really disappointed and if we come back I'll be hesitant to do so. I'll look for the earliest sitting because clearly earlier is prioritized and then I know you won't kick me out no matter how long I stay, right?

The food was great (ESPECIALLY THE BREAD AND GARLIC DIP, it was actually the best part of our meal) but I personally think it's not as much better than other italian fine dining. My boyfriend and I both ordered the special appetizer, pasta sampling, main course and dessert. It ended up being $350(without tips) for both of us, which is around $175 each. Our waiter Gustavo was the best though! Great engagement and can answer all questions we had. We ended up leaving the latest that night :) Paying for fantastic service and atmosphere.

The food was phenomenal and so was the service. We loved our waitress Abigail. She made our first experience at Valter’s outstanding. We got the pasta sampler and a veal dish with creamy truffle sauce (waitress recommendation). For the price, I would hope to not be packed in so close to other guests. If I stretched out my arms I probably would have smacked a stranger at the neighboring table.

Another underwhelming dining experience in Salt Lake City.Insalata Mista: nothing mista about it, spring leaves incongruously covered by two slabs of cheese. No carrots, no tomatoes.Piccata di pollo: a strange watery affair, did not taste bad, but never had piccata like this.Panna cotta was the highlight, though small portion. Red wine just ok.And bonkers, pompous prices. It is really hard to understand how this place gets packed on a saturday night.

Great place for a romantic date. Got away from our 6 kids and no regrets. Almost everything was amazing. Highly recommend the lemon gelato. The bread and dip are to die for.Parking: $12 for valet parking. Worth it since no chance of finding anything else unless you pay anyway.

Our early Valentine's dinner at the restaurant tonight wasn't as enjoyable as we had hoped. Despite making a reservation, we still had to wait for about half an hour before being seated. Some of the table placements felt awkward, disrupting the flow of foot traffic.Once seated, we were served bread and homemade dip, which was a nice start. However, after ordering our entrees, the waiter abruptly cleared my plate without explanation, leaving us waiting for our main course for about 15 minutes.I opted for the gnocchi with mushroom sauce, which, although okay, lacked flavor (although to be fair, I'm not well-versed in Italian cuisine). As the evening progressed and it neared closing time, the staff began cleaning nearby tables with a strong fragrant spray, which was a bit off-putting while we were still eating.Overall, this was my first experience dining at a fine restaurant, and unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.
