Reservations are probably a good idea; I'm not sure if needed on a typical night. For us it was a very busy night (games, Sundance, etc). But we were seated promptly as hotel guests which I really appreciated because the nearby options were limited for a late night bite after a long day of travel. The tuna tartare was really good (8/10)! The staff were welcoming and attentive.

We had an amazing experience at Van Ryder! Our server Bucky was very attentive and gave us great recommendations for drinks. Our bartender, Manny, made every cocktail to perfection. The old-fashionedās he made were excellent. We will certainly be coming back soon!

I love this place. I wish there were more rooftop venues around. The ambience is fantastic. Super cozy and the outdoor fire pits are great for having good conversation. We ordered the charcuterie board, the fries, calamari, and the fish and chips and they were all fantastic. Also the skillet cookie was great too!

The food was eh. Only ordered the nachos, and they barely had any meat, no beans and too many sauces going on lol. Ordered two drinks, one was really strong with a crazy sour salt rim. The other was good, but tasted mainly of pineapple juice. The vibes and views are what attracts people for sure. Atmosphere was on point so Iād say thatās the winner here. Iāll probably be back, but will skip out on the food most likely. Oh yeah and two drinks and nachos was 60$ with tip so just be aware.

As previous reviews have stated, reservations means nearly nothing to Van Ryder. They wonāt let you in without one, and then when you do make one and pay for it they donāt honor it or make any effort to rectify the situation. We made and paid for a reservation for an outdoor table for NYE with our group. This was confirmed multiple times by the manager and on OpenTable. Our res on the host iPad even said āfire pit guaranteedā. When we arrived at 9:30pm on NYE, we were informed our table was occupied as they had seated another party there but said they will close them out and have it ready for us within the hour. Obviously irritating but we were understanding and took a table inside for the interim as that is what they offered. 10:30 rolled around, still nothing, 11:00 we follow up again and nothing, 11:30(!!!) rolls around and we are told āwell they spent money we canāt just make them leaveā. We paid for the table specifically for NYE, you made the mistake of seating them there, wonāt make them leave, and seat us in an inside corner? They repeatedly tell us they are having them leave, they never do. I finally say I will go ask them to leave since you wonāt, when we approach the table they shove us, get in our face, and put their hands on us. I relayed this to management and they said thatās not ok and they will have security remove them. It took TWENTY minutes for a single security guy to arrive. By now itās 11:55. By the time security talks to them itās after midnight and we are finally offered our table we reserved at 9:30 at 12:05ā¦ missing the entire point of NYE and the table for our group. After all of this, I speak to the manager for well over 30 minutes who makes no effort to rectify the situation. No refund, no comp, no gift card, no reasonable explanation other than āI couldnāt have them leaveā. Are you serious? Your team had repeated service failures and not a single attempt was made for a service recovery outside of hereās my business card. Needless to stay Van Ryder continues to fall in quality and atmosphere and this is sadly the latest, most costly example that we have experienced. Happy to edit this review should a service recovery be attempted and made.

The Van Ryder rooftop bar was unfortunately a let-down during a bachelorette trip to Salt Lake City. Leading up to the trip, we knew we wanted to visit this rooftop and included it on our itinerary. We called for weeks to make a reservation because online it does not allow you to make reservations for more than 6 people through the website. I called multiple times per day and left voicemails during business hours. I also left messages with the hotel guest services staff and was told someone from the bar would call me back. With no calls back, our party, who was very much looking forward to experiencing this rooftop, made sure to arrive before the 5 PM opening time. Upon opening and while waiting outside to enter, we were told that they were only accepting parties with reservations due to being short staffed and sent multiple groups away. (How are we supposed to make reservations when no one answers or calls back?) We tried to explain our situation with management and they would not accommodate us. Our party was very disappointed, and had a much better experience at another establishment nearby.

Do you like over priced drinks and rude staff? Well this is place for you! I would never come back here, horrible all around experience. Also, they have plenty of empty tables by the bar that are, āreservedā which were empty the 2 hours we were there.
