The Beards Opinion

I love Chin Wah’s and the food. I’m so sad you are no longer open, I wish I could have gotten the phoenix chicken recipe that was my favorite and I’m so upset I’ll never have it again!

I’ve always liked this place but their food is not as good as it once was and the prices are getting astronomical. Our regular place is just as good and about half the price. Doubt I will come back. They get you everywhere, most places let you upgrade the white rice to ham fried for a nominal fee.. nope, not here. Full price and two years after Covid they still don’t want you in the restaurant.

High prices and poor quality. Very little meat in the meat dishes - mostly vegetables. This place used to be awesome; unfortunately, looks like they were never able to bounce back from the pandemic. I won’t be eating here again.

We always saw so many people going, we thought we would try. The worst Chinese food we have ever had! Service poor too! Cheap quality, no taste, and if I may coin a phrase slimy!

I ordered the wonton soup and cashew chicken with steamed rice. This meal was the blandest food I’ve ever eaten. There was no flavor to any part of it, I added soy sauce and still nothing. I can’t believe I paid $30 to eat the worst Chinese food I have ever had

I ordered $30 worth of take out. When I picked up my order they said it was $50. I asked why it was so much and showed them the prices online. They said sorry our prices are wrong online. Very unprofessional. I will never go back.

We called in, asked all questions we had up front, received answers quickly and clearly, and ordered online. They asked name, number, and what car we'd be in so that they could smoothly bring us our food. And our food... was magnificent! Seriously some of the best food I've had across America. The chicken sub gum was a perfect mix of flavors and elegantly tender. The ham fried rice had a depth of flavor that had me getting seconds. The pork egg rolls were crispy on the outside and full of delicious goodness on the inside, and the fried shrimp pulled me in and wouldn't let me go. I'm very picky about my shrimp and very rarely take more than a bite at restaurants, but I had the entire fried shrimp and wanted more. And let's not forget about the almond chicken with sweet and sour sauce! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection! I will be back again and again!Dietary restrictions: They answered all of my questions about ingredients and were able to customize by omitting ingredients to meet my allergy needs. Amazing.

Chin-Wah's is just okay. My parents have been going there forever, even before they moved locations. The food is extremely bland, just barely tolerable, though the prices seem very fair for the portions on the diner for one meals. The service was good for what it was, but they only offer take out service, so I only interacted with the staff over the phone, or for the brief time it took for them to run out the food to my car. That being said, the curbside service was nice.Overall, Chin-Wah is my least favorite Chinese-American restaurant, and to be honest the only reason we ever eat there is if my parents have ordered it when they invite us to dinner. If you like bland, fairly generic offerings like basic veggie stir fry, takeout style fried rice, and chow mein with hard noodles, you'll probably enjoy their menu, for me and my wife will stick to places like Fortune Cuisine (located practically across the street) where they offer a bit more variety and flavor in not only their dishes, but their dining experience.

Another long time customer of CHIN WAH. This place use to be one of our favorites also. I am sure ownership has not even noticed or cared about all these negative reviews lately. But should probably take notice and make some changes or sell to someone who cares about the business. So disappointing they use to be good.

We have been coming here for 20 plus years and used to be big fans. However, our experience tonight was incredibly disappointing and we will no longer be returning. Beware that online prices are well under the actual prices for the food. The manager told us there was nothing she could do because their website online isn't their "actual website" and the prices are old. She told me that if I had a problem with it that I should be the one to call The Better Business Bureau. It was very misleading and sad to lose one of our favorite restaurants.

Sadly we will be finding a new Chinese restaurant. We've been long term customers here and have found the most recent reviews to be very accurate about the change in quality of food. I attempted to reach out to the restaurant to see what might be going on and certainly will not be returning based on that conversation alone. Best of luck. Might as well go to panda and save $30.

We used to go to Chin-Wah pretty regularly but it no longer meets our needs. We live all the way across the valley so it was a great lunch or dinner date, kind of a special occasion, for us when we could dine in. Now that they are takeout only, we don't want to spend 30 minutes in the car before we get a chance to eat the food so we have stopped going. We've had to explore and find a couple of other Chinese restaurants to scratch that itch.

Warning!!!! Long term customers and new customers, read the reviews. This place is not what it used to be. Their price was worth it for how delicious their meals. Now they simply charge way to much for mediocre food at best. Hopefully they can turn things around, but until then we will not be back.

Ordered takeout the other night. We ended up with three orders of Phoenix chicken...the signature dish of the restaurant. A combination of sweet and spicy. Well, definitely not spicy and WAY TOO sweet! Like they dumped a bag of sugar into the sauce. I'm pretty sure some of the chicken had been cooked much earlier in the day then left under a heat lamp. It reminded me of the sweet and sour chicken at a buffet that had been fresh at lunch but at dinner it was like jerky. Two of the three servings were decent but one was huge. No consistency in size. The white rice was fine. The jalapeño fried rice was good(just ham fried rice with some jalapeños). The egg rolls were decent. Considering the price tag, I don't know if we'd go back. The quality definitely wasn't worth the ~$80 plus tip. Oh, it's curbside pickup only. Which didn't bother us.

Don't pay attention to any of the prices on the internet. Ordered but refused order, (2 individual dinners that had prices of around $8.00 each on allmenu site) was almost $31. Woman very rude to us, said they don't have a website. They do have one that shows business hours.Told us to never come back for refusing to pay for overpriced meals. We are very sad to lose a restaurant that we have gone to for close to 30 years.
