Food was ok. Somehow paying $22 for a lunch plate and $4 for a can of coke seems a bit crazy. If you have money to burn for decent food then give it a try. I personally won’t be coming back. Portions are big. I’d pair down the size and bring the cost down to $15.

The Tallarines saltados we're really good and the portion was huge, if you order an appetizer you might struggle to eat the whole main dish.

This is a hard review to write because I have loved this place for all the time that I have been in Utah. The drive from Ogden to the southern part of salt lake for the delicious food, the homely atmosphere and a selection of dishes not commonly found in other Peruvian restaurants was always worth the drive. That being said, my last visit was not as satisfying as they have been before and the service definitely not as good as a place with good rapport should have. Beginning with the papa rellena, which truth be told made it a good opening for our meal, made it evident right away that it was a little different than before with the huge amounts of raisins inside of it than one would normally expect in this dish. Since my partner was new to Peruvian food we decided to order some tried and true classics of Peruvian cuisine with the Arroz con Pollo and the Chaufa mixto. The arroz con pollo, decent though it was, gave quick evidence that something was wrong as the traditional peas and carrots that accompany that dish included sweet small kernel corn and green beans, clearly from a Frozen mixed veggie bag, which didn't make it taste any better. I substituted the chicken option for the duck because our waiter recommended it as it also came with Papa a la huancaina, another classic and usually exiting new flavor profile for first timers. Sadly, however, it's usually salty and spicy flavor, (aji Amarillo is a very distinct flavor).was replaced with a somewhat milky and bland sauce; the duck in the Arroz con pato turned out to be chicken. The Chaufa was delicious, no big disappointment there, but they sure could benefit from cooking the shrimp in different oil from the other deep fried seafood options as it was very rubbery and fishy. But again the rest of the Chaufa was very tasty and definitely reminded me of home.Perhaps it's because I have been to Peru in the past year and the flavors stay close with me even now. Maybe it's the equally amazing Peruvian food that I recently had in Florida that keep me close to all those flavors in aromas from my childhood. I don't know. But I was sad to feel like Puro Peru, would not satisfy those cravings the way it used to. I will probably return, but I feel like I will be returning in hopes to rekindle a passion that I once had for this place, and not looking forward to an the food experiences I had in the past.

I’ve been there for like an hour waiting for them to bring my food. They told me twice that they are serving the plates but never brought it.Worst thing, they lied to me twice. They could have said there was a mistake and will get to work in my order right away. They decided to lie to me twice. When I walked out they asked me to pay for my drink. Funny people.

Everything was so delicious! We had the paella, fried chicken, ceviche and fettuccine (there were 4 of us at dinner). All of it flavorful and perfectly cooked. Service was wonderful and the live music wasn't too loud. We even got the sugar cookies for dinner and those were so light and buttery.Definitely going back!

I have mixed feelings about Puro Peru. on one hand it is as close as you’ll get to home cooked versions of the dishes taste fairly good and similar to home cooked not quite there could definitely be enhanced. For that lesser quality (still good not $25 per plate good) it is really pricey with bigger portions. That said I’ve read multiple reviews stating the mutual feeling of portion size doesn’t make up quality (quality over quantity) and priced at something we could afford to eat more often with a taste that brought me back more. If the could manage to find a balance between those things it would be much more enticing to eat here.Rather than besides when I’m in the mood for my moms cooking as well as when I feel like spending more money on one meal. I’ll come when I’m in then mood not caring too much about taste and when I feel like spending more so once every few months those 3 things line up. Would eat more often if those ever got taken seriously.

Really enjoyed the fresh food. It came by super fast. However, my pork dish wasn't as good as it usually is. The corn was a bit too sweet for my taste. The temperature and presentation of the dish were amazing. Same taste just different parts of the pork were served and were not as tender as usual.Parking: There are a few holes in the parking structure but it is free.

The food consistently goes up in price and the service consistently is horrible! It took and hour to get the most basic dish, they don’t follow up with you at all, and then have the audacity to pre charge you a 20% tip! The food isn’t bad but the service, fees, and cleanliness is awful! I will not go back or recommend!

I really like this place. The food is incredibly authentic in its presentation. I would say that the flavor is lacking for some reason. I don’t know why but it’s not the very best for taste. Consider sharing a plate. Portions are generous. The service can be a bit slow and you may think that they’ve forgotten about you at times. But you can very politely ask for help and get your food in a timely manner. Just a quirky thing. Not a bad place for a diverse culturally romantic dinner.

the proportions are HUGE so you can share.. it’s ok food… but, make sure you like fish, because I think they fry everything in the same oil, my chicken had a fish after taste…. The steak we had also had a fish after taste.
