I worked at Rich’s as a teenager more than 25 years ago. I have come back to it every year since we moved out of state after college. The recent ownership change has come with some big changes to the actual food. Asiago cheese bagels have less and less cheese (I have come once each month for the past 4 months as I have been in town for business and personal), the taste of the bagels is more bland and tastes like processed food. The blueberry bagels used to be really good. Now it is just bad. I will go again, but this was the first time in 25+ years of coming where the quality of food was noticeable, and not just by me but others that have also been frequent diners over the years that came with me (we ordered three sandwiches, a few bagels with cream cheese and soup). Here’s to hoping that the new management reverses back. I’ll update when I return again.

Best. Bagels. Ever. I lived around the corner years ago and recently got back to the area and the service, taste, freshness, and friendly atmosphere hasn’t changed a bit. 10/10. A+. Family owned. What more could you ask for?
.
Also, they invented the Asiago Bagel years ago?! What a claim to fame. Although, my favorite is the cinnamon sugar, warmed up, with cranberry raspberry shmear.

I don’t typically write reviews, unless of course the health and mental well-being of the public is at risk, but if I find myself writing a negative review, I won’t tickle you gently with my aesthetic displeasure of your business, I am going to unleash the Kraken- I don’t believe in half-assing things. Been a while since I solicited bagels from Rich’s and I must say I was disappointed when there on my latest quest for the perfect bagel. At least that is what my hard drive was telling me about my last experience at Rich’s two years ago. I was disoriented from the moment I walked in. I felt like a blind man stumbling through unfamiliar territory. There are poisons that blind us , and poisons that open our eyes, and this poison most definitely opened my eyes. My first thought: the owners are too old and have given up the fight. Investigating further because I am a nosy sleuth(I can’t help it), I cornered and threatened bodily harm to a long-time customer if she didn’t confess. Begrudgingly, she told me the owners gave up the fight and sold to the highest bidder. I had my answer. Why do people continue to kill the things we love?
What was missing? GREAT BAGELS , the comforting feel of home, even the warm smiles at the counter couldn’t ward off the longing for the kind of feelings that made
my life both wonderful and unbearably complicated when last in Utah. Do we need to remind our retailers that they are more than commodities brokers, that if they truly want to succeed they have to segue
into the business of pleasure purveyors, because Joy is found in the normal cycle of life.
Here’s my advice, and I am being kind by not encumbering you with a long- winded diatribe of why your house of cards is eventually going to come crashing down. Every new customer that walks in is deciding if he is going to return a second time, then a third, so your bagels better be perfect every day. And for your peace of mind, don’t pay any attention to what we write about your business, just measure it in inches, which means I am being kind here. That being said, there comes a time in life when people have to choose to turn the page, write another book or simply close it. I also believe in second chances, so you will have my attention one more time, and I want to be able to tell my friends that the twenty minute drive was worth the drive because the bagels and the ambiance were dazzling-a little taste of the past, just like the old days.

New owners are changing everything about the interior. Seems like they don't want you to see the bagels being made anymore because its all blocked off by a giant fridge. Took down the old menu and have little paper menus that you can't see until you walk up to order. I kept coming after the sale in February hoping things wouldn't change too drastically. However, today was my last visit. After many many years, I just can't support this place anymore. I don't trust that I can't see the bagels being made, I don't understand why you would replace the menu that has been up for years with shelves, pink sour patch is NOT a good idea for a bagel flavor, the dinky cloud light looks like a dust collector, and I'm sure the memory wall is the next thing to go. New owner has done a great job ruining so much of a beloved bagel shop.

Been coming here my whole life and sad to say, things arent good. Whoever is making these stupid changes at Rich's needs to stop. We dont care about lame decor or your ideas of changing the menu, we come for the Cheese bagel and plug. Rich's is a community staple and ya all are ruining a good thing. Bagels taste different and the vibe is chain instead of local spot. Please MAKE RICH'S GREAT AGAIN!

They really need to figure out how to provide better service but bagels are stellar.

Very friendly and helpful management!

Great bagels, but $10 for a rubbery, microwaved egg sandwich? Nope. I expect this from a chain like Einstein but not from a small local bagel shop. I expected real cracked eggs and better quality from a local shop.

Got 3 everything and 3 honey wheat bagels. After tax and tip it was 14.50. The bagels are small but they do taste pretty good.

Been coming for years but it seems like the owner may have sold. Everything is changing and not for the better.
It’s not the same anymore.
Nobody seems as friendly as they were before.

Truly sad seeing this happen to so many great local spots.
Asian star ain’t the same.
Taquera ain’t the same.
Now Rich’s bagels.

Such an amazing place for 30+ years. Unfortunately the owner sold and this place has gone down hill.

Used to hang out here and chat with friends. It’s not even a comfortable environment anymore and I don’t think they have ac either. Quite hot inside

Also a large man in the back sweating profusely onto the bagels is a little much. Maybe AC would help.

Hopefully he’s not the owner , I’ve heard it’s a woman which is great!
But unclear as I’ve not seen her.
Either way it’s not the same. They also jacked the prices way up.
Times have changed for sure . Hope they can figure it out or change the name at least.

Rich's Bagels has been one of my favorite places to lunch for 25 years. I love the owners, the staff and the FOOD! The Asiago bagel will put me in an early grave I love it so much. Whether alone, toasted with cream cheese or made into a sandwich. This place puts every other bagel place to shame. It slaps Every. Single. Time.
