If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience in Salt Lake City, Contento is an absolute gem—especially for those who are gluten-free! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable meal.

The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating, making it clear that gluten-free options are a top priority here. Every dish we tried was thoughtfully prepared, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find a restaurant where gluten-free doesn’t feel like a compromise, but Contento absolutely delivers.

Whether you’re gluten-free or not, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!

This place is awesome, food was amazing, had shrimp tacos and contento bowl. Then churros and flan. And DEDICATED gluten free. Super sensitive celiac kiddo and had zero problems. Delicious, wholesome food. Cool atmosphere and great service. ???

Thank you for this gem! I LOVE that they don’t use seed oils and fry their chips in grassfed beef tallow ??? Honestly I don’t eat out much anymore due to the quality of most restaurant’s ingredients being akin to garbage. I appreciate a place I can feel good about going to! I also LOVE the limeade, seriously the best I have found I’m obsessed ? and the sales is perfectly flavorful and not too spicy. I do wish the steak were cooked more to a medium than well done, but that’s my only complaint ☺️

This restaurant was a mix of dessert vibes and hip coffee shop. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and they were able to seat us right away. There was a good amount of options to choose from and everyone loved what they ordered. Everything tasted so fresh and came out very quick. The steak was my favorite but someone at our table tried the chicken and loved it too. While it was a little expensive, it made sense for the quality of food they had.

We just stopped in for a beverage so we didn't eat anything other than the chips, salsa, and guac, but those were tasty and the drinks were excellent! The marg was not too sweet. The owner and all of the staff were so lovely! Will be back for sure and can't wait to try more of the food.

I needed a break and was very hungry. Being new in the area, CONTENTO Cafe was recommended and it did not disappoint. The food fresh, fresh and didn’t give my that sluggish feeling after eating Mexican food. I actually felt energized and retuned back to my office charges. The atmosphere is a vibe in a great way. Definitely NOT contento ?(contentious) . I felt comfortable and was well attended to by staff EVERYONE was friendly and professional . Had the pleasure of meeting the owner Loren (hope I spelled his name correctly) who provided some options and took into consideration my allergies to certain foods. I wish I had the opportunity to return during my work stay. I will definitely return soon. My suggestion.. Eat everything. Make multiple visits.

I've had my eye on trying this place for awhile, their Instagram feed looks pretty tasty so a couple of weeks ago, my friend and I went in to try it. Her plate of food was very colorful, fun and looked delicious. Mine was a little less exciting but my burrito was very tasty and so big I could not finish it. Maybe if you are ravishing you could finish your meal if you got this particular item. I was hungry but ended up giving the other half to my friend to eat later. The server girl was compassionate about my body's intolerance for onions and made sure none were included in my food. I really appreciated that. The menu is a bit pricey but it's fun to go and try a new (to me) place to eat in SLC.

Environment is great for date nights, family, friends, or first impressions. The owner and manager stopped by our table multiple times throughout the night to talk about more than food. Extremely warm and accommodating. The food is fantastic, cooked with no seed oils and organic. Very tasty, and decent variety of drinks. They host seasonal and themed dinners. Altogether a great experience. True 5 star.

I grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Contento Cafe is without a doubt the Best Mexican food I have had since moving to Utah. When I first moved here, I spent several months searching for good Mexican. Some places checked a few boxes but not all. Everything I ate tonight were like the comforts of home starting with the house-made tomatillo poblano sauce. The decorations transported you to your own private hacienda. They have space for a few large parties but mostly cater to small groups of 2. I understand they have some outdoor seating, too. We came after dark, and on a night it was drizzly. I feel super fortunate we came during dia de los muertos. Their offrenda was authentic and heartwarming. It made me want to bring my own photo of my loved one, a candle and flowers.

The choice of music was incredibly lovely. I commented to my sister several times how much I liked the songs they played. They have local bands come play later at night. This would not be my preference since I have a sensitivity to loud noises, so I appreciate that the bands come later in the evening.

We met the owner, Loren, and his GM, "Mama Coco." All the wait staff were pleasant. And drum roll - you know it's good food when the hands behind the wheel are Hispanic brethren and sisters. But these amigos were on another level of artists. I can not say enough how incredibly good the food tasted. All the ingredients blended together perfectly like happy little mariachis in your mouth. And for my fellow gluten-free friends - this is a safe place. I'm actually doing low fodmap, and the things I ate have still not caused any symptoms. It is a bit pricey. But it's obvious you are paying for a high-quality experience. I like that there weren't 100 different options on the menu. All your classic Hispanic fare but again Not your average experience. Do Not miss the Horchata. This is the best horchata I have ever tasted. It was the perfect blend of cinnamon, rice, and milk. So many times horchata tastes watered down. Not this one. It was tempting not to order an entire bottle to go.

The service was a bit lacking but I suppose it is a fine balance between too much in your face, here's your food, here's your check, get you out the door versus we'll let you stay as long as you like because mi casa es su casa, right?

Hands down, this place will be on repeat, albeit sparingly. Definitely a place where I would want to celebrate different life experiences.

You’ve got to be kidding me with these prices! Their mantra is “crave worthy food”, but $23 for bland steak tacos is rage worthy food. One additional star for some bomb beans though.

Loved the tacos, they have a little layer of cheese that helps keep all the taco stuff in!
