I don’t believe the food is authentic Mexican food just my opinion it was more of an American style Mexican food. For the prices I would say not returning.

We come here all the time because the food is really good. Usually the service is not great but acceptable. You can't have refills on your drinks which are 4 bucks each. Which just makes me not want to order a drink.

I love the food at La Puente! Hadn't been in a year and really wanted to go. We went to the state street location. Atmosphere is odd here. The service that day was very mediocre. I felt like we had to beg for water refills. Chips and salsa are amazing. They used to be bottomless basically but now everything is extra. A cup of soda is around $4 and there are no longer refills on those either. Unfortunately when places start making these types of decisions it tells me it is a poorly run business. Not sure if all locations have pulled the same nickel and dime business model, if so I won't be back to any of them.

Best restaurant for homemade Mexican food. Was visiting Utah and had stopped here for lunch. Food was great and tasty. Service and atmosphere was excellent. Must visit and would definitely recommend.

A truly amazing Mexican food. Food had nice spice, preparation was done with care, the service she is it should be helpful and nice. Wow, can't wait to go again. Price again, cheaper than fast food.

Been coming for years! They have the BEST chips and Salsa. A smothered burrito with cheese and a side of rice is a MUST TRY if you have never been before. It will always be my go to and it will never change. Atmosphere and food are very comforting. My family comes from New Mexico/Southern Colorado so the food here is good I grew up on. It’s as close as possible or as authentic as it can get when it comes to food and vibes. It’s my comfort spot.

Now bear in mind as reading, I drive 8 hours from Reno to eat here when visiting with my mom. I used to love this place, but that changed almost immediately this evening. First, I was greeted with a sign that says they no longer offer refills on their $4 fountain drinks. Whatever, then after waiting for about 20 minutes of waiting, the waiter finally comes and takes our drink order and walks off without even finishing taking my order to go chat with another table where people he knew were sitting. He high fives the man and hugs the woman. At that point I had enough. I will not be coming back. Shame as I said, I loved this place

Zero stars. The host looked bugged that we came in. Sat us, but she seemed way annoyed that she had to sit us (mind you she’s the hostess.)
Then 15 mins later a server came to take our order after being told we had been waiting for a while with no one taking our order.
We ordered and then waited 30 minutes for food but all we did was watch 10 other tables get their food first, tables that were sat after us.
Bad experience! Do not recommend! AVOID!

This location in particular is great. Good food and service and I tend to have great company while I am here. This is my go to Mexican restaurant. It is obviously better than the other la puenta locations I have eaten at. Good enjoyable meal every time.

I’ve always made a special trip to this location because the food is better and more spicy than the other la puente’s. Sadly the past two times I’ve gone there they raised their prices, not once but twice!! Not to mention I had asked my server for a refill and he turned back and said “we don’t have refills!” I said “I’ve been coming here for years and have always been able to get a refill on my Pepsi. I looked at the menu and yep, it said no refills, at that moment I was LIVID!! 🤯😤🤬 If you’re charging someone $4 bucks for one drink you’ve got to be out of your mind!!
I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for years and I understand things have gone up but it LITERALLY COST about 7-10 cents per drink and now it’s $4 for only one drink with ice all the way to the top. 🤦🏽♀️
Just a little word of advice; you will make more money keeping the cost of your menu down and giving people refills because you will lose a lot of people who can go somewhere else and get cheaper food & refills. I’ve seen too many restaurants either go cheap on their food and lose people or get greedy and lose people to higher cost. Just saying!!

i’ve been going to La Puente fairly regularly since i moved to SLC almost 3 years ago, but i think today was my last day. i’ve always been a little irritated at $4 soft drinks as that’s probably the most expensive i’ve experienced, but today i ordered a soft drink and then my buddy, who joined me a little late told me there was a sign on the door indicating that they no longer give refills so the already expensive soft drink became obscenely more exoensive. i o own of no other restaurant with such a ridiculous practice. The food at La Puente is adequate, but not special and the soft drink cost has caised La Puente to lose 2 pretty regular customers.
