Great beer. Love this place. Friendly staff.

Had tried their beers while staying at hotel in SLC last year. Haven't been much of a beer drinker in years. This place has some absolutely incredible flavors and the atmosphere in the tap room was amazing. I will be stopping by there now ever time I am in town. If you can appreciate craft beer, this is a must stop location for any enthusiast to sample. My only request is have more tester options available maybe even in shot glass sized ones.

I normally come here with my dog, but this week we were told we aren't allowed inside, only outside. Super bummed, as the outside isn't really set up for winter. Friendly staff and very interesting flavors of beer, but I likely won't be back soon because of the dog rules :-(

5 ⭐ for the quirky authenticity and amazing quality of their products. The taproom features options I can't find anywhere else which makes it a destination for me. Lynn was great and took time to answer all my questions. As far as I'm concerned, Shades is the master of the sour ale. I've not found anyone who does them better.

When I am traveling somewhere new, I always try to find breweries that have some sour beers. Typically, most breweries that I've been to will have maybe 1-2 sours on their draft list and *maybe* one sour-equivalent beer in a can. However, let me tell you that I was pleasantly shocked that this brewery in SLC had 3 beers on draft and then TWO LARGE SECTIONS of sour beers in cans. I was overwhelmed and pleased at the same time. I ended up getting a flight of 4 beers (Plum Berliner Weiss, Strawberry Lemon Slurry, Huckleberry Sour Ale, and Winter Lager) and was very happy with all of them. I think my favorite of the flight was the Strawberry Lemon Slurry as I *really* picked up the flavors of both the strawberry and lemon. After that, I got a can of the Indian Masala Sour Ale. It was coconut goodness in a can! Usually with some beers that have certain fun flavors, I don't usually pick them up in scent or taste. However, I really got the garam masala scent (and a bit of the taste) from this can. They don't really offer food over here (they have chips and a pre-made charcuterie board), so I would suggest getting something before/after you visit. The interior is pretty chill once you get into the brewery side. I was a bit confused because I thought I was walking into the wrong place, even after I walked through the door that said "Shades Brewing" and the hours lol. I was the only person in the brewery for a bit (I was there late on a Wednesday night... I don't expect people to really chill at breweries on a weekday), but it was chill because I could entertain myself with the TV and cool music.I'm sad they are not currently delivering out to California (thankfully, I bought some beers to go), but I hope that they continue to expand. This brewery should get a lot of attention! I'm excited to try out the cans I bought... I ended up getting the Peach Cobbler Sour Ale, Indiana Masala Sour Ale, PB&J Blackberry Sour Ale, and the Watermelon Sour Patch Sour Ale... can you tell I like sours?

We spent a wonderful afternoon at Shades and Mucky was incredible. She was friendly, engaging, and she made our time there even better. The beer at Shades was everything we wanted it to be. We're big fans of sours, so we were in heaven. There are so many creative options that we had to take some to go. We'll be recommending this brewery to all of our sour beer loving friends.

Great local brewery of sour beers! The owner is really nice, too!

I really adore Shades Brewing. Trent and his wife have done an incredible job creating a fantastic establishment nestled in the shadows of the Uintah mountains. Their craft beer selection is quite innovative, and they are very involved in the local community. If you're ever in Salt Lake, it's definitely worth a visit.

The beer I had was very good and the staff was friendly. The only reason I'm rating 2 stars is due to there being no wheelchair access. Thankfully I had my walker and wasn't by myself. I had to have a friend who was with me carry my walker up and down the stairs then help me climb up and down the stairs. I'm pretty sure the building is new enough to require ADA access. Unless changes are made I probably won't be back.

Really bad vibes at this place, clearly run by bigots. Highly racist, homophobic, and sexist jokes were made tonight, making it clear the owner doesn't care about the safety or wellbeing of marginalized communities. It's clear from reading other reviews I'm not the only to have a bad experience here. The beer was mid and frankly not worth my money. Next time I'll be patronizing businesses who care about human rights. Save your time and stay far away from this business.

I am rating the beer, not the brewery/staff. Almost every beer I’ve had from Shades feels synthetic and unpleasant in taste. I think they generally swing big, and miss big. I’m sure the people are great, but the quality of the product is subpar in comparison to other Salt Lake based breweries (T.F. and Fisher consistently make a higher quality beer).

Good beers. It's cool to be inside the big brewery and drink their beers there. Bar seating. Indoor and outdoor seating. Water station. Water bowls for dogs. It can be hot inside. Flights available with 4 beers.

Great and friendly brew bar. That Amanda from the prior review is probably a SFB. She has never even seen the owner. And the comedy is hilarious. I listen every week.

Hello truckers.Caution! Caution! Caution ! Caution. This facility is not for 53 ft reefer I took load for this facility from TQL and they force me park on dock while there was no room to make turn. Finally they unload on the road but gave me hard time. So think before to pick.
