I’ve been to other black bear diners and know it’s risky to order salads at any restaurant like this. Having said that I did order a blt with sweet potato fries and small salad. Blt and fries were as expected. Salad was bad even for a diner like this. Lettuce was mostly white romaine stumps with brown edges. I tried to eat it and found it was partially frozen and tasted dirty.Servers were busy and the place seemed to be understaffed. I did not complain but when y server asked how the food was I mentioned the salad. The response was an apologetic sorry, no offer to rectify or even acknowledge my feedback. I got my bill and went to pay, he cashier asked the same question and I politely shared my feedback, again I got an uncaring sorry with no acknowledgement or offer to do anything. The lettuce on my blt was good so they had options.I guess I learned just don’t order salad from a place like this or expect overworked staff to care.

I just tried Black Bear again after a year and was still disappointed. Unfortunately with the rise in inflation, food service and quality have not kept up. Large portions don’t make up for just poor quality food. St. George as a whole suffers from the same old boring cafe fare (with a couple of exceptions) and desperately needs something new and different.

I do not remember our server's name, but she was very delightful and friendly. Very helpful in pointing out suggestions. She claimed to make the best strawberry shake and I can not say she was wrong. Everything was very enjoyable. We were just passing through town, but I'd definitely stop in here for a great meal anytime.

Every time we go there, we get cold potatoes. Especially French fries. It's an old ongoing problem and we have finally quit ordering fried potatoes of any kind. We took Grandma and sure enough, she got cold hash browns. She doesn't want to ever go back.

Man, this Black Bear Diner is run down. Exterior and interior are worn and it shows. The food wasn't even worth the prices I paid. Probably the worst meal I've ever eaten at a Black Bear Diner, which is absolutely disappointing. Only highlight of our visit was our server. She was great.

Nicest people we met in Utah. Give you a lot of food for the money. Big selection on the menu.
