i got a small eclair and a glazed donut here. the eclair was clearly some premade frozen stuff and the chocolate icing is absolutely not from scratch. The glazed donut dough was really dry, i threw it away after a few bites. this “bakery” is at the same level as a smiths bakery. Really disappointing

Best pastries anywhere. If you enjoy brownies, éclairs, mint brownies, macaroons..., this is the place to go.

In the few times I’ve been in, the food has been okay, not top tier - at least not what the prices suggest. I’d say this place tends to be a little pricey for what it offers.

But I guess the biggest thing that stands out to me is that every time I go in, I’ve never received outstanding - or even amicable - service. They always seem bothered that I, a customer, has come in, and seem rushed, and it makes me feel rushed, too, where I can’t come and enjoy looking over the options.

They had 15 minutes left to close and they locked the doors and turned off the lights. When I went to the door they were at the front counter and ducked to act like they were closed.

It's a cute little bakery with a lot of different options to choose from. We loved the s'mores bars and the mint brownies. The snickerdoodle cookies were dry and hard. The wedding cookies and the flat cinnamon roll pastry were bland as well. So it's a hit and miss on their items. They don't have a lot of seats inside either, so you'll most likely have to take the food to go.

The sandwiches were very expensive for what they were. Unfortunately the syrup for our drink was very low so it was watery. However the sweet treats we got were very yummy. Even the hornets outside thought so lol

Usually I’d rate Schmidt’s much higher but today I can’t. Just bought some of their sugar cookies (which I purchase regularly) from their Taylorsville location and the frosting is suddenly completely different. It’s gritty and honestly tastes like something out of a tub from the grocery store. Nothing like the delicious frosting they’ve used for decades. We’re so disappointed. WHY change something that isn’t broken? Schmidt’s PLEASE go back to your delicious, original frosting!

Schmidt's Pastry Cottage is the only place I could find that will write names on cookies. I've only tried the sugar cookies, apple fritters and brownies. They are hands down, by far the best I've ever had! I will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu. I'll never go anywhere else. Fan for life! Also, the staff are super friendly and helpful.
