We stopped in Chak Balam Mexican Restaurant for lunch after hiking in Capital Reef National Park and it was a great experience. The service was super fast and friendly, making us feel welcome right away. But the star of the show was undoubtedly the food--it was simply amazing! As a vegetarian, I was happy to try their veggie tacos, and they were the best I've ever had--seriously! The queso and guacamole were also great, and my hubs enjoyed the cheese enchiladas. To top it all off, I ordered a margarita, and it was sweet and refreshing, hitting the spot perfectly. All in all, I highly recommend Chak Balam to anyone looking for delicious Mexican food and great service.

Hello, the service in Chak Balam was very exquisite. They were very friendly. The food was very delightful, I enjoyed my green enchiladas with pollo, cooked to perfection. The Ambiance was very welcoming. It was very clean, and the bathrooms were nice. I totally recommend you get comida (I learned that word today) from the restaurant in Torrey, UT

Not many places were open when we arrived in Torrey. With recommendations, we ventured into Chak Balam. Restaurant was clean! Server was delightful and aimed to please. Food was yummy and ingredients were fresh!

After being seated, Efrain greeted us, provided some recommendations - and he was right. The mole was the perfect balance of spice and chocolate. The cheese dip flavorful, nicely spicy, and plentiful. If you are looking for a great meal after a long day in Capital Reef - this is it!

Not sure how this place has such good ratings. Unprofessional staff and half our food was inedible. I wouldn’t be so upset about being so nauseous if they had any kind of service recovery skills. Instead they’d like to disagree about the quality of the food and roll their eyes at their customers. Classy.Have clean glassware and make food that’s edible and I’d pay double. Stereotyping people that don’t have a good experience at your restaurant as bad people that want food for free is pretty low. I’m sure it’s hard out here to keep a business running in this remote area, but attacking your customers isn’t the way to do it…

We were hoping to like this place with the good reviews, but the enchiladas were fishy and disgusting and the beer glass had a nasty bug in it. Despite sending it back and showing the waitress the bug, the “manager” was super unprofessional and said the beer was opened and the food had a bite out of it so we should pay full price for it. I can’t remember the last time I encountered such bad customer service at a restaurant. Since we heard the table next to us saying their chicken was gross, I don’t think it was just us. Can’t recommend at all.How unprofessional of a response. We paid for the food we consumed, only not for the fishy enchiladas and bug in the beer. I didn’t realize taking a couple bites was 50% of our meal. We still paid for everything else. I must have missed where the waitress tried 3 times to change our food when I was offered to have the same inedible food remade. By then I was already ready to throw up and nauseous so no I didn’t want more. We aren’t the kind of people to not pay for what we eat and we aren’t unable to pay for our food. I hope other customers read this and stay away. I rarely write a review like this but based on your extremely ignorant attitude in dealing with this, I felt impassioned to. I recommend taking a class in management and customer service.

During our multiple visits while staying in Torrey, we were wowed by the delicious food and cocktails and great service! When we got back to Salt Lake to catch our flight to Ohio we met a lad heading to Torrey and told him to be sure to check out Chak Balam for some amazing eats! Passing the good word along! Yum!! Can't wait to come back. That hot sauce is fire!
