We had such a great experience eating at the Black Sage! Great food, kind staff, Keith took great care of us. I asked for a rose to be on the table for my date and the Red Rose couldn't have been prettier! It was a perfect night!

Staff was superb! I had the Red Drum, wife had the Scallops. Presentation was perfect, flavors were great, priced for perfection on all levels but fell a bit short. Because of the price, not somewhere I will go very often but glad I went.
This was a delightful dining experience! Will definitely return again. The service was great... very friendly and knowledgeable servers and staff; food was delicious, well prepared with nice presentations; and you just can't beat eating inside a Yurt under a star-filled sky. Being from Western Montana, we see the stars all of the time but for those living in areas with skyglow, it's a chance to reacquaint themselves with our beautiful nighttime skies!
My husband and I had dinner here in January on a pretty cold night. You sit outside, on an outdoor patio that is closed in by plexiglass (they do this for the winter season and remove it for the summer season). They have alot of outdoor heaters, but our legs and feet were cold. My suggestion is that they offer warm blankets to put on your legs in addition to the heaters. The food was tasty, but over priced (a burger for close to $40, pasta for close to $40). We will try this place again but in the summer time, we have heard the views are pretty from the dining area, but we got there when it was too dark to see them. So we will try again when it is warm out and we can see the views - but still wish the menu was not soo expensive for what you get,
Black Sage is a nice restaurant, but it's questionable if the price is justified. The location is great, set back in the rocks, away from the road. The check-in area is for the lodging as well. I appreciated the restaurant entrance being out-of-sight, providing a more intimate feel and not being watched while others wait. The small seating area is lovely, with plenty of windows, wood, and (in the winter) heated fire towers. Sadly, we were not next to a window, something we wanted. It wasn't full, which surprised us that the window tables were not utilized, with us or others arriving after. The waiter was pleasant, but not as refined as I'd have expected at this caliber. We brought a bottle of 2016 Pol Roger champagne, which appeared to surprise the hostess. Yes, they do offer a $25 corkage fee, which is quite reasonable. Something we couldn't find an answer to online. The service declined slightly when we were first asked if we wanted it chilled. I figured this was a no-brainer. Then he almost dropped the bottle, joking about it. Watching him pour the bottle, he ended up turning as he was spilling the champagne. He also never came around to fill our glasses, though I suppose that was for the best, as I didn't want it spilled further. The food was good, not great, but good. I had the carbonara, and my partner had the burger. They were enjoyable, but left us questioning the price. I've had much better carbonara at other restaurants; do not expect mind-blowing. The burger was enjoyable, but again, we've had better and cheaper elsewhere. The appetizers were quite expensive, at about the same price as an entree; we passed, as both the nachos and pretzel sticks were rather boring. No doubt they would be good, but we couldn't justify the price for such simple fare. There was little creativity on the menu. We were hoping for unique dishes and interesting creations. There wasn't even a steak. We left happy but questioning our dining decision.

Ate here on NYE 2025. Was really looking forward to the experience, as the website and photos looked amazing. Not worth the insane prices or the long drive in. $48 for a mediocre 6oz piece of trout, $38 for cold meatloaf... Service was friendly and professional. Possible the kitchen was slammed given the holiday, but the food was disappointing.

Food is really good, and locally sourced. Great ambiance as well. The service quality is variable though, which is a let down. We came for new year’s eve a year ago and service was excellent. We came back this year for our second new year’s eve dinner at black sage and service was the bare minimum. It seemed expedited at the end. I think this place is about experience and so quality of service is a pillar.
Very cute spot for a glamping location. Service was friendly and good. Food was trying to do too many flavors, over complicated and terrible value - $47 dollars for what looked like a 3oz piece of trout. Has high expectations. Not worth it imo.

We're so happy we only live 25 minutes from Black Sage. It will be our go to date night place. The food and service are both outstanding. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Wonderful food. Quiet, understated dining room in a place with a remote, secluded feel. Romantic. Excellent service.
Not worth the drive or money. Seated in enclosed patio with heaters everywhere. The cold was coming in below the door and walls so our legs & feet were freezing. I wondered how many mice came in as things weren't sealed up. The flatware was pretty but not functional. Handles were too thin and it was hard to grasp them. Food was so so. Nothing special about the menu or the flavor of the food. Not trying to be mean here but I hate to say but there wasn't anything notable about the experience.
Pretzel board was delicious! The Meatloaf and potatoes were amazing! Loved the heaters and Christmas tree . Very beautiful
My family was on a southwest road trip and ended our stay in Zion. We booked this restaurant for our "Thanksgiving" meal, though we were almost positive that they wouldn't have traditional Thanksgiving offerings, but the food and location looked enticing. The restaurant is off the beaten path, so don't be alarmed if you feel like you're off-roading--you're on the right track! When we arrived, the atmosphere was cozy and the dining room had dim/warm lighting. There weren't many people dining, given the semi-secluded nature of the place, so that was a wonderful surprise and we didn't feel rushed. Another surprise was that there was a Thanksgiving-style meal on the menu for the night, so half of us ordered that and the other half ordered more modern fare. The dining room has large windows, so although we weren't outside (it would've been too cold!) we all enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and had a lovely last meal in Zion. I would definitely recommend this place!
