Excellent food and service. The only slight negative is the quality of the orange juice which is a little watered down and probably came out of a commercial carton. Tuesday, my server was very friendly, efficient and pleasant.

Today my sister and I took my elderly father to lunch at Penny Ann’s. The hostess saw my sister drop off my Dad and I and immediately came to hold the door for him, noticed there were 3 of us and sat us close so he didn’t have to walk far. I was so impressed with her noticing our needs and going out of her way to accommodate us. Our server was spectacular and the food was delicious as always. I cannot even express how impressed I was with the service we received from everyone there.

Love their food and we especially appreciate how quiet this place is. No loud music so we can hear each other talk.

Penny Ann’s Café – Bountiful Location
I recently visited Penny Ann’s Café for the first time, and unfortunately, it’ll also be my last. While the service from our waiter Hector was excellent, the overall experience didn’t live up to the hype—or the price.
Cost vs. Value: Breakfast for four totaled $78, which felt steep for a morning meal—especially for a family just looking to enjoy a casual bite and considering the quality. The portions were large, but the flavors didn’t justify the cost.
Food Quality: The “Heavenly Hot Cakes®” tasted more like Bisquick—dense and heavy, not light and airy as advertised.
My eggs were undercooked, with runny whites that made me nervous (thankfully, no sickness)
The home-fried potatoes dominated the plate but were bland and dry—no seasoning, no flair.
Drinks had a strange aftertaste that all of us noticed.
Hector was attentive and friendly, but we waited 15 minutes after finishing our meal just to get the bill. That lag really soured the end of the meal even more, (especially when we saw the amount.)
Menu Limitations: There was no senior menu or kids menu, which was disappointing. Smaller portions would’ve been appreciated, especially given the price.
Ambiance: The interior was surprisingly dark—less inviting than a mall food court. Not the cozy café vibe I expected.
Bottom Line: Penny Ann’s Café is pricey, portion-heavy, and underwhelming in flavor. Bountiful deserves a more affordable breakfast option with better execution. Sadly, this isn’t it.

Not sure how this cafe gets such good reviews. I got the Chicken Fried Steak and it was one of the worst I’ve had. The gravy was more grey than white but the steak was real meat which was nice. As for the cubed potatoes, they appeared to be not homemade & they kind of tasted like dirt. I love the skin left on potatoes but for heck’s sake, you’ve got to scrub off the soil real good if you’re going to serve them that way. The eggs were great & cooked exactly how I ordered them. I’m not sure why their pancakes are called “heavenly” pancakes because I thought they were pretty sub par. Felt & tasted like they had been previously cooked & maybe reheated. Nice that they had 2 different kinds of syrup though. The waiter (male) was training & did a great job so my tip reflected that. All in all I probably won’t go here again but check it out for yourself.

First time at Penny Ann’s Cafe, and I’m officially hooked! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience even better.
The food? Phenomenal. I finally understand why everyone raves about their “Heavenly Hot Cakes” — they’re perfectly fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Portions were generous, prices reasonable, and everything tasted fresh and made with care.
If you’re looking for a cozy spot with amazing breakfast, excellent service, and a place that feels like home, this is it. I’m already planning my next visit!

I had an amazing experience at Penny Ann’s Café in Bountiful! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel so welcome—friendly, attentive, and quick with service. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the “Heavenly Hotcakes” which really live up to their name—light, fluffy, and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality you get.
The café has such a warm, comfortable vibe—it feels like the perfect neighborhood spot to enjoy breakfast or brunch. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
