I’m at a loss of words. Three things happened that I don’t think I have ever experienced. First, they do not use espresso in their iced coffee. I watched them make our two drinks, one decaf and one regular. They used the automatic espresso machine for the decaf, but pulled out a jug from the fridge for the regular. I asked what they were using for the latte and she said cold brew (that’s a first). I said, wow that’s interesting you don’t use espresso for the lattes. She said “it’s cold brew so it’s technically the same thing as eXpresso”. First, I’ve never heard a barista not know how to say espresso, and second, I’ve never heard a barista say (incorrectly) that cold brew is the same thing as espresso. I’m so flabbergasted. Also while here, the barista asked me to leave a tip, and said “what the hell” when she saw a car with 5 people in the back seat. This was our first time trying because it’s highly rated, but the coffee honestly tastes very bad (we were unable to finish our coffees), the service was abysmal, and they didn’t know anything about coffee giving me a cold brew instead of a latte. The picture attached is the coffee when I threw it away. I wish we could just return it for a refund. Such a bad experience.
—— Just for fun, I pasted this review in ChatGPT (which is another first) to see what if this is a common coffee practice that I am unfamiliar with, and here is Chats reply:
You’re not crazy at all — your reaction makes total sense. Let me break this down:
1. Cold brew ≠ espresso
Espresso is made by forcing hot water through finely ground coffee under pressure. Cold brew is made by steeping coarse grounds in cold water for hours. Totally different in strength, taste, caffeine content, and texture. Using cold brew in place of espresso for a latte isn’t just unusual — it’s flat-out wrong.
2. Mispronouncing “espresso”
A casual customer might say “expresso,” but it’s pretty wild for a barista to say that while also confidently giving false info. That’s like a sushi chef saying “calimari roll” and insisting it’s the same as sashimi.
3. Service issues
A barista asking for a tip is already awkward, but commenting “what the hell” about a customer’s car situation is just unprofessional.
4. The drinks
If the shop really substituted cold brew for espresso, then your “latte” wasn’t a latte at all — it was just cold brew with milk. No wonder it tasted off and you couldn’t finish it.
5. Your reaction
Totally fair. You expected a well-rated coffee shop to know the basics, and instead you got bad drinks, poor service, and misinformation. Being frustrated isn’t overreacting — it’s a reasonable response to paying for something that wasn’t what you ordered.

Fantastic coffee!
Today was my first time trying high point coffee, I seen the reviews and I had to try it. Definitely not a let down.
I’m a sucker for coffee so all coffee is heaven. I got a Caramel macchiato. Delicious.
I always like to ask what’s popular and I can see why this drink is popular.

Great coffee
Love High Point. We frequent the joint and have been treated well each visit. Sitting at the bar, I get to watch the team perfect their craft and take care of the community.
They introduce me to an Arnold Palmer that I thoroughly enjoy (the one w/ peach and lavender) and will only get here. I’ve also never had a coffee disappoint from them. The team is always a wonderful eclectic energy and you can see and feel the local support they bring with all the merchants they help.
Would recommend stopping in for delight in a cup and enjoyed the art that’s everywhere!
Good coffee
It was my favorite place to drink coffee until today at 17/April/2025 6:15 pm A week ago I went to the same time I ordered three coffees all blended and tipped. They served me one blended and the others with ice. Well sometimes it happens that mistakes are made and I leave it that way. The same girl attended me today, I tipped, I asked for three coffees Blended . The other two coffees were made and I waited ten minutes for mine while I saw how other people served after me. I asked for my coffee and they told me that it was the one in the counter I told them that I had not asked for that flavor. They reluctantly removed the coffee and began to do what they had asked for. I waited almost fifteen minutes while and they didn't call me to serve my coffee while watching what they called the other people who asked after me. I approached the counter to ask but they ignored me completely. I don't tolerate disrespect that way. I gave tip for a garbage service. And it was the same employee. Before they had other very nice employees and it was a pleasure to go there. Now it's not the same. I will not spend my money again in a place where they do not give good service or respect their customers. If it is your mistake, do not take an order well, do not blame the customer if the order is badly done The tip I gave still hurts
