Beautiful park right on the river. The station is iconic, and great for photos after completing the Creeper trail segments between Abingdon-Alvarado Station or Damascus to Alvarado Station.Alvarado Station is the lowest point on the trail, so it will be an uphill ride into Abingdon, but mostly level to Damascus.

Ample parking on a Saturday afternoon while we were there. Trail is close to civilization but enough tree cover to feel isolated. Nice bridge for a quick walk if you can't do the whole trail

Old Lavaredo Station is located along the Virginia Creeper trail. Honestly, I came through the station twice running the Yeti 50 mile race and there was an aid station there dedicated to the race. There is a vault toilet there which is a huge bonus if you've been on the trail since White top. The site looked very nice and the Creeper trail is very much worth exploring with all of it's lovely scenery and trestle bridges. My second time through there was a wedding going on nearby so it must be a really cool place. What's nice about this trail is it is free to use unlike the New River Trail and most of the VA state parks.

Really peacefully! Went down to the river and witnessed a baptism!
Beautiful place to stop and rest, picnic on the Creeper Trail. Bathrooms are not the best but they are cleaned daily and serve their purpose. Picnic areas are for public use.

Love Alvarado. Great place to stop and refresh on the trail. I am happy to see a place like this "preserved" and made available for the public to have while running/biking/walking/etc on the Creeper Trail.
