We had a reservation for 730, got sat quickly but waited for 15 minutes or so to be acknowledged by our server. Another 15 minutes or so to get bread and soup. The food was spectacular however I gave an average rating due to the terrible server.

Although we had reservations for 5:30 and got there at 5:16 we were stuck at the table by the kitchen. The dining room was completely empty upon our arrival. That means the hostess had any table to place us. We asked as well as our waiter asking and they would not give us a better spot.

The food was very good! But we waited one hour and fifteen minutes before we were served our entrees. They just did not have enough servers. The waiter was very nice but obviously overworked.

We called to make sure that they had chicken tenders on the menu at Rain in Abingdon. We were informed that they do so I went ahead and made a reservation. Made the half hour drive. After being seated I asked if chicken tenders could be ordered. We were told that no they are very strict about that. We were told that they have a late night menu that includes chicken tenders for adults. We asked if they would check on that option. They checked and he denied that request as well. About $100 to $150 for a party of two walked out the door. Your one purpose is to sell food and make money. I don’t understand why you refuse to do that. Is this pure economics? Can you not charge triple and offer the product to an adult? Please let us know. Thank you.

Came with my family for Thanksgiving. The food was delicious! We had the calamari to start and I had the butternut squash soup and yellowfin tuna as the main course. The service was amazing. I definitely recommend Rain!

I'm kind of torn between a 3 & 4 star for this restaurant. I'll first go into why I would give it 4: - Atmosphere and interior is super cute - staff is so friendly and helpful - service was quick - fried oysters appetizer was amazing - steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare - mushroom soup was good ...and then reasons why I would give it a 3: - the pepper crusted steak was SO salty and it felt like no one has tasted the dish before because the level of saltiness was almost unacceptable - bread with cheese dip also salty - other fish dishes I tried as well as the calamari was just average - cocktail/drink options were just okay in my opinion. They're strong so be careful. I tried the cosmopolitan & a Moscow mule. The Moscow mule had a lot of ginger in it but not bad. Cosmopolitan kinda tasted like cough syrup you take as a kid lol Overall I had an okay experience. I'm not sure if I would come back personally. Parking was a bit limited. Be prepared to parallel if you're coming for dinner or at a busy time

Great food, great service, great local atmosphere. Try it before going to the Barter, and avoid the Martha.

You best get a reservation if you want to be seated when you arrive. We went at 5:30 on Thurs and it was crowded. They open at 5pm for dinner only. Service was excellent. It was a little slow due to the crowd. Most of us were going to Barter Playhouse so that may explain why so crowded on a Thurs. at that early hour. There is a kids menu, but I don't recommend unless you can keep them still for the hour it takes to get your food on a crowded evening.Nice menu with different entrées that aren't found at other restaurants. Prices are $$+ without alcohol and $$$ with alcohol for 2 adults.

We tried Rain Restaurant & Bar - Service was great, although a little slow at first, but they were busy. Reservations a must. Was disappointed that their online menu was different than in the restaurant, had our hearts set on scallops. Not a fan of the Butternut Squash Soup - if we are in the area again, will get the salad for sure. The oysters rockefeller were delicious as well as the salmon rockefeller, and crab cakes.

We are Locals and Rain is our first pick for an amazing dining experience and fabulous service! Emily was our server and she was right on point with her suggestions. She also knew the menu and her attentiveness was superb. Simply outstanding Ribeye dinner for my husband, who hardly ever gets an amazing steak. Cooked to perfection by Chef Ben Carroll, who executes the dish with a lovely sauce and fried spinach. It is one of the rare times my husband was complimentary of a sauce. The squash soup is so lovely and all ingredients complement each other with the freshest taste. Many thanks to Rain management for keeping their prices under control, which has not been the case for other Abingdon restaurants, which we do not frequent now.
I would have given Rain 4 stars, but they do not have steak sauce. What kind of restaurant that serves steak, does not have steak sauce? The food was good, the service was fantastic. We were in Abingdon for the weekend to go to a play and ride the Creeper trail and wanted a good steak locally. The Hilton we were at recommended Rain so we tried it out. I had the steak with shrimp and my wife had filet. Both of us wanted A1 with our steaks and they did not have any steak sauce here. Not just A1, but they had NO steak sauce. We ate our steaks and it was good. It was pricy, over $100 for the both of us but it was good. If they had steak sauce, I would have given them 4 stars instead of 3.

We had dinner mid-week and it was one of our best meals while in Abingdon! The beef stroganoff was uniquely done and we also had an item off of the chef’s daily menu, j*** spiced New York strip. Everything, from service, to atmosphere, to the bar to the apps and entrees was outstanding. It’s rare to have so many facets of a restaurant experience hit such high marks, which made the Rain experience even better. We will be back when we’re in Abingdon again.

Enjoyed this dinner very much. Service was good, ambiance great, ingredients ??. We have visited Abingdon several times but never Rain. Cocktail selection made for a hard choice, but I went with the cider. My husband tried something that was served with a purple ? tint. Both drinks were excellent. Can't wait to go back.

Fantastic evening at Rain. Emily was wonderful and the food delicious. If they have the snapper over squid ink pasta, don't even look at the menu, that is the dish you want. Better than anything I have had in a restaurant in years! Butternut squash soup was amazing too!

We had eaten here several years ago - and picked it as my wife's birthday dinner. We had reservations at 5:30 - and arrived on time and were quickly seated and greeted by Thomas our server. This is bistro decor and food all the way - with a great bar area. I was kind of expecting an upscale bourbon menu - but they did have a Basil-Hayden. My wife had a glass of Prosecco - as we awaited our starter - baked Oysters Rockefeller. All went together well - as the oysters were fresh and the seasonings were nicely within the genre. We continued our seafood theme with our mains - my wife: tuna medium rare - and I went for their rendition of the Shrimp and Grits. Both very good - with mine having some nice pop to it. This is a place lots of locals come to - including bar birds. It's comfortable. Not sure it's a place I would take young kids - but tweeners and teens would be fine. The servide is friendly and professional. You'll feel at home
