Googled food nearby, saw the name and disregarded it as I'm not a fan of BBQ. Disappointed, I decided we'd just head toward home and grab some fast food on the way.
I didn't notice the place until it was in the rearview mirror. I smelled something amazing and turned the the car around. Saw the name and recognized it as the restaurant I'd earlier disregarded. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and baked beans and a slice of apple pie. My thought was "woah" when the bill was over $22. But when they handed me the bag I understood. I could have easily shared this with someone (I have half of it in the fridge for tomorrow). No shallow sections in this packaging. Beans and potato salad were plentiful and good, especially the baked beans. They make it nice and thick like I like it. The sandwich was good too!
But I'll tell you what, that dang apple pie is one of those foods you think about years after eating it. I have never, ever, had pie crust that I've finished. Just not a fan. But this crust was maybe better than the filling. Seriously! It was somehow sweet and soft but not mushy.
I look forward to visiting the area again and trying the ribs. But man - I will be lusting after that pie until then.
(At first I gave 'atmosphere' a 2 because it's a hole in the wall, if you will. But after I thought about it, I realized that's probably the charm and magic. It's a roadside gem. So I'm giving that damn parking lot I ate in a 5!)

Best BBQ in Nelson and the surrounding counties. HUGE sandwiches that I split with another. Sides are excellent. The slaw is unconventional because it’s chopped so finely, but it’s excellent. Occasionally, there will be smoked, pulled pork tamales, don’t sleep on these. They’re good and they’re huge as well. The folks working there are very nice. There’s only outdoor seating. Highly recommend.
Authentic bbq! We got it to go; highly recommend the potato salad, pulled pork, and the Mac!! Delicious !

Maybe this is an off day? I did not like this at all. I'm from Texas and I'm a huge BBQ fan, but nothing about this was good. The ribs were dry and flavorless, the sauce is absolutely horrible way too much liquid smoke or something- almost inedible. The Mac and Cheese is disgusting- no flavor and the sauce is broken and the noodles overcooked. Pulled pork is okay, but I wish there was good sauce for it. The potato salad is edible, but not great. The deviled eggs are also lacking flavor, in bad need of salt, and the filling is weirdly dry? Definitely would not come back or recommend although the folks there were very nice.

Hands down one of the best rib meals I have ever had! I am originally from Kentucky and thought we knew how to make ribs, but these guys blow it out of the water! Fall off the bone tender - and honestly, the ribs are so juicy they don't even need sauce. If you do decide to go with sauce though, I had a tough time deciding which one I liked better - spicy or regular! I would have gone back for another 1/2 rack if I wasn't absolutely stuffed.
They are also able to get the sides right which is huge. A lot of times you'll see barbecue joints focus on the meat to the detriment of other stuff, but they had some of the best cole slaw and potato salad I have had in years. Definitley the best I have ever had from a restaurant. It tasted like I was back at my grandma's house.
Paulie and his team were really great folks too. It's great to know good people are making such good food! Keep it up, guys!

Friendly, fast and absolutely delicious pulled pork sandwich piled high with slaw on top or by itself. It's the one meal I find worth having as my cheat meal.
