Abraham is probably the best server we have ever had in our entire life. What a wonderful gentleman in every way. He made our night and we made it a point to take the manager aside and let him know
Came to know of 1799 from a friend who placed it at the top of his Tier 1 list of recommendations. Immediately upon entry, I knew why. The warm welcome from the staff and the ambiance immediately took me in. The food and drinks were excellent, all of which were at a great price point. Will definitely be back!
The ambiance is perfect for romantic dinner. The service is exceptional. The staff is very accommodating and even manager stopped by several times to check on us. The food was great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
A family with young children were allowing them to run around the dining area, screaming and hollering during the entire time we sat for diner. The manager refused to address the disturbance, I felt as though we were eating at a Waffle House, not a fine dining experience.
Dinner with my wife on a weeknight after a work event downtown. We liked there setup of multiple rooms to break up the noise factor. The food was good and reasonably priced for the quality. Sadly the service was extremely lacking to the point of impacting our entire night. I am not sure if it was bad planning and they didn't have enough staff or someone called in sick, but not the service you expect from a restaurant that has high-end steaks on the menu. I ordered a glass of red wine to have with my meal and it took 15 minutes to get the wine. In the time from ordering the wine, the food was delivered by the server (not our waiter) who he took off without asking if we needed anything - like utensils!!! - salt and pepper, water refill and my wine? I waited for our waiter to come around for several minutes while we watched our hot food sit there. I had to get up and go ask the manager who immediately rectified all the issues...then alas, there was not any pepper in the pepper mill. All in all the food was good, the ambience was pleasant and I would consider giving Prime another chance, but I fear what it would be like if it were a busy weekend night.
I chose 1799 Prime Steak for a friend's birthday because of its history. We were so pleased with our dining experience from the moment we arrived. The entire staff was pleasant, the selection was great and the food was delicious. I will definitely visit again and let others know how great our experience was.
The steaks were either not the cut represented (we ordered ribeye and filet mignon) or a very poor quality of the cut and were not seasoned well. Steaks were not cooked to correct temperature and the were was no “bark” on either of the steaks. I sum, low quality steak, possibly cut other than advertised, poorly seasoned and cooked, BUT premium pricing!! I would not eat dinner here again. Nice ambiance though!
Great experience! Went for a birthday, and we got a card and a complimentary dessert. My husband had the prime ribeye, I had the broiled cod. It was all delicious!!! Highly recommended.
I ordered Filet to be cooked medium rare, and it came out well done. It's a steakhouse......:(
I really like this restaurant. I've been several times. I love the ambiance and the wait staff are always professional and pleassant. My favorite dish is the braised pork belly appetizer. I recently ordered the grilled whole branzino entree and LOVED IT. It was well presented and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I fail to remember the other dish I ordered but I remember liking it, which is why I wanted to return to the restaurant and try something new. The person I was with ordered the chicken scarpariello, which they enjoyed.

Fantastic all around experience. Came to the area from out of town for my daughter’s 25th birthday. Menu and specials all sounded so great we had a hard time deciding. Started with oysters which were top notch. 2 in my party had the short rib special described by our waiter Jordan as melt in your mouth. 1 member of our party had the scallops which were sweet. I had the seafood combo special which was excellent. The cocktail list was creative and I was impressed by the wine by the glass list, which according to their website won a wine spectator award.
All staff from the minute we walked in to the minute we left were friendly and accommodating. Upscale place with food and service to match. We will definitely return.

Sat at the bar. Drinks are completely overpriced ($12 for a can of beer that would cost half that anywhere else in Old Town) and the AC was not working. It was actually cooler outside. Behind the bar (leading to the bathrooms and dining area) smelled like a sewer. I don’t know if a pipe broke or what, but I can’t imagine a restaurant would actually seat people in the booths in that area.
I also know there is no dress code in the bar, but the attire was not what I would expect for such an allegedly high end restaurant.
