“Well... you could not finish my 1/2 chicken with a side salad and yuka. This means that the portions are pretty good size. The food was delicious and the service was fast. For 1/2 chicken and Malanesa de polls we paid $32 (no drinks). They offered water cups and we took them. The white sauce is mayo like, the green is spicy (you have been warned). I would recommend to friends.“

One employee in particular by the name of Charlie was quite popular as longtime customers piled in to say hello or catch up while he prepared an array of food items to include the fried foods. Mimi wanted to try the fried chicken breast (she loves chicken) and initially I was told there was a 15 minute wait, a customer ahead of me stated it’s definitely worth the wait as he smiled. So having a free day off, I waited and I am so glad that I did! The chicken breast also has the wing attached and it’s placed piping hot between two slices of “cheap white sliced bread”. I was asked how I would like it so I responded as many others before me did: salt, pepper and hot sauce? When I say that was the most perfectly seasoned, fried and juiciest chicken breast I have ever had (5/5). They are a food stand opened early and closes early only M-F! “The food is absolutely wonderful! I was visiting in the area. I live 5 hours away and I can’t stop thinking about it. I had the wings, mac n cheese, candied yams, and corn bread. The portions are nice. I tried my husband’s seasoned rice and it was great too. The next time I go back, I am going to try the spinach.“

Biggest caveat, which is one of their strengths, is that the restaurant makes everything fresh… The spice levels have been variable at the five or six different ones I’ve been to! I only get mild, it sometimes the mild is too spicy. Then I’ll ask for “no heat” and it will be completely unseasoned…. If I could just find some consistency in their mild, I’d be good to go. LOL So far my favorite location has been crystal city around the pentagon shops. They always add ranch, and the cook is impeccable!“

“Me and my friend came here after a long shift and we were pleasantly surprised with the great service we received. Jessica came to our table multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. She walked us through the menu and was a huge help is deciding what we wanted for dinner.“

“Dining at shababi was an absolute delight. I came to celebrate after I finished taking my board exams and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. To start they brought some hummus topped with shredded beef and beat spread, which the former was my favorite. They later brought the roasted chicken which had been marinated for 48 hours plus. Every bite was so flavorful. As this is a pop up I recommend you go soon and get a feel for Palestinian food“

“Came in here on a rainy and cold February day. The restaurant had three other customers who were enjoying their meals in store. I chose to get the chicken soup. The lady at the counter said she would let me know when the food was ready. It cost $15 for a large portion of soup, yams/yucca, carrot and reasonably sized chicken portions. The flavor was great and I was even asked if I’d prefer rice or tortillas. I chose the rice which was also very flavorful. I also purchased a bottle of Kirkland water. Overall, I would give the food an 8 out of 10.“

Upon entering, the wonderful and kind host saw the Popeyes shrimp I was holding and promptly gave me some of his own at no charge. The shrimp were delicious and textured. The Mac and cheese was cheesy, tasty and full of texture. The chicken was clean and tender. The host was so incredibly kind and provided us with complimentary drinks. The service truly elevated the overall experience and was incredible.“

This store is one of my favorites as I can always expect to get fresh food. What's more important is that the restaurant is always clean, regardless of the number of customers they have in the store. I was also impressed with the cashier ensuring the food was fresh and they just didn't just throw anything in our box. I honestly wish more fast-food places would out as much time into making sure the customer was happy with their purchase. I will definitely be back.“
