THE BEST Fish & Chips I've ever had! ( And I've had amazing Fish & Chips in Dublin, Ireland )

Love them and will miss them. Sorry to hear that they will be closing. Delicious, battered cod fried to perfection. Please open another chipper in the DMV soon.

some of the best cod you'll find in the DC area. But unfortunately they are closing for good the end of the month (July 2019)

So what happened to this place? July 2019, suddenly had a craving for fish and chips. And trust me, even at their worst, this place makes probably among the best fried fish. I've always limited myself to ordering Cod though. This time around, the regular order was really small. Still good though. But we dined in and the fish came unwrapped in its usual bag, the place didn't have the Cheasapeake sauce (among the favorites), bread if you wanted it as a sandwich, and sausage also wasn't available (not that I ever tried this). And this was on a slow, blistering hot Sunday afternoon. The fries were somehow not as great as before and I can't seem to figure why. The place really needs a facelift. I've been coming here for years and it's never changed. Dark walls, outdated chandelier effect, dreary cramped bathroom and wooden floors that just beg to be changed. There were rumors that this place would close down when the owners opened their new restaurant Kaliwa at the Wharf. But it's still up. A few renovations and better quality control will keep its loyal followers. Do it!

Unfortunately, I can see many reasons why this place is closing. Last day is 7/26 I believe. The food is very good. Everything is fried, but that is to be expected when you go to an Irish pub. We had fried cod and chips; for about 10-11$ you get a nice portion of tasty seafood goodness and hefty cut fries. The service was good overall. The staff were attentive and nice. But it was kind of awkward. One gentleman was lounging at the end of the counter eating chipotle... the overall cleanliness of the establishment was poor. It just needed a good deep clean. The ketchup containers needed to be cleaned on the tables. There was no background music, and there really needed to be, especially some sort of theme music (Irish). It just seemed like a disjointed experience in need of good management. The food was good, although it wasn't a very wide selection... mainly just fish and chips and fried candy bars? Odd. In any case, I'm happy to have tried it. Sad to see a cheap eats place go away, but like I said at the beginning, it's quite obvious why it's closing.

Negative star... fish sucked slimy over breaded, sauces are garbage... when asked what the unique smell was the lady said the fish.. nooo definitely not fish smells like bums pissed all over the building

Best place in old town. The fish is excellent. Fries are perfect. Even the chicken bites are good! Portion to price ratio is spot on. Dont forget to try the deep fried candy bars ; )

The fish and chips were over cooked. Fries were mostly hard. Not very good. I mostly ate the interior of the fish and the edible fries I could find. So disappointing. You'll have better luck at Long John Silver's. The only saving grace is the friendly service and the cool British & Irish items they have for sale (drinks, candy bars).

I've never been to Ireland, but I **think** they serve authentic fish and chips. They even serve cod, whereas you might end up with some other random white fish elsewhere. Eamonn's also serves fried candy, but that's not really my thing so I didn't try it. Great service!

I'm from England and miss real British chips. I bought a small portion of chips which was $5 definitely a very very small portion for $5. The chips were nice but not as thick cut as I'd hoped. Still on the hunt for chips close to the ones from home.

I don't know who the headliner at this restaurant is, I guess it's a duet! Fish-and-chips equal partners and equally delicious. I have been going here for years. I have only been disappointed once when my card was under cooked and there is still batter underneath the fried crispy exterior. Oh. Don't worry I didn't let that concern me I just heated it a little longer myself and continued. Although the food is delicious I think my favorite part is the Chesapeake dipping Thought. I am pretty sure it's just Mayonnaise and Old Bay but it's special because it's at Eamonn's. This last time we went...last week. . .we also got the chicken sandwich, can you do any wrong? No, is my answer so far.

After eating a late lunch/early dinner, I was seeking something around 9 PM or so, that would fill that little hollow spot. Decided to try this place on a whim. It's easy to miss if you're not specifically looking for it - somehow the storefront fades into everything going on around it. If it had some catchy decor outside during the day, and better lighting at night, I think they would attract more customers :) Anyway, walked in, and the guy at the register was really kind & helpful. I wasn't wanting a big sandwich or anything, just something to snack on. I got fries and slaw. We were the only people in the place at that particular moment, yet there was a bit of a wait. On just fries and slaw! I got a little worried, but out came the food with an apology for the lag. Once I saw how good everything looked, I realized that might've been the reason for the wait. The food was high quality, seemingly put together with love and care. The fries looked to be chopped from REAL, fresh potatoes, and had coarse salt sprinkled on top. Yum yum. Big portion too. And coleslaw was nice & creamy - glad I tried it. Go here if you're looking to walk in and order a casual meal or snack. I would love to come back sometime and try the fish or a sandwich! Side note: tables are a tad sticky, and floor could use sweeping more often. The place could use a makeover update :) But the layout and flow is great, don't change it! :)))

Two of your employees racially profiled me. Long time customer who will no longer be returning.
