Evening Star Café is a charming, cozy spot with a warm atmosphere and hearty, well-prepared dishes. The friendly service and inviting vibe make it a great choice for a casual breakfast, brunch, or comfort meal.

The food was delicious! Bar service was extremely slow but waiter was attentive. The biggest fault is how loud it is in the dining room. I could barely hear my friend who was sitting across from me. Also, we went for restaurant week which is a great deal, but the price of drinks was exorbitant. Guess they made up their money this way.
I called to change the reservation but got voicemail. I left a message to call me but never heard back. I went anyway and managed to get in. Everything was first rate after that.
I'm not a foodie, but the chef at Evening Star makes me realize that there really are people who are capable of making creative and perfectly seasoned dishes. Simply my favorite restaurant.
Found a total hidden gem in Arlington! Our server Alex was seriously the best—so cool and made our friends visiting from Europpe feel right at home. We tried the Gumbo and the Country Steak, which were both amazing, and the beets are actually a must-try (surprisingly good!). We’ll definitely be back for more.

Best brunch option! Menu has all the favorites to please any appetite. Excellent bloody mary's and coffee. We had a great table right in the front windows and enjoyed some people watching. The staff never rushed us, we sat for hours talking and eating. Fairly spendy (~ &60/ea including tip: shared app, entree, coffee, bloody mary, shared dessert) but very worth it.
I had an amazing experience at Evening Star Cafe in Arlington VA! We met up with family here and loved the experience! The decor was so fun and staff, especially our server, Gabriel, was wonderful. Gabriel was knowledgeable about the menu and had great suggestions for food and drinks. We loved everything we had and can't wait to come back again!

Over the holidays, I had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant for the first time. The food was exceptional, my steak was done perfectly. I totally enjoyed viewing your decor, especially the little printer drawers on the wall.
Also, I have to commend our server, Gabe Vázquez for his excellent service and knowledge of the menu. We received our food promptly, and I will definitely dine at your restaurant again when I’m in the area.

Had a wonderful time at the Evening Star Cafe for dinner, I had the Blackened Salmon. Our server Gabe did a wonderful job tending to dietary needs and allergy issues. He did so well I offered him a job, to see the world and sell my innovative vacuums that don’t suck! But he declined. I was shocked because I had offered quintuple his current salary. Gabe looked me in the eyes and confidently said how much the Cafe meant to him, what it stood for, and the amazing people he works with. Gabe, a fantastic server and extraordinary employee (no doubt) I tip my hat to you. Evening Star Cafe on Mt Vernon Ave on the corner, you have a good one on your hands. Food was good too! Heard the chicken and waffles were delicious from close friends but will have to come back to try it.

Eleven family members and I had dinner and drinks at The Evening Star while they were in town visiting during the 2025 holiday season. The atmosphere was so comfortable & cozy, the food & drinks were beautifully crafted, delicious, and delivered timely. Not an easy task for a table that size. Our server, Gabe was very attentive, friendly, and made his job look easy and fun. We highly recommend dining at The Evening Star to see for yourselves what this great team brings to the table.

Great evening at Evening Star. Food was fabulous! I highly recommend the Blackened Salmon, which I had, and the Smoked Chicken and Andouille Gumbo, as per my dining partner, was fantastic! Service was excellent and the venue was comfortable, cozy and not too loud.
On a cold wintry night, Evening Star is the most comforting place to be. We were grateful that although it was not crowded and it was relatively late, we were treated generously and not rushed at all! It was a wonderful evening, delicious food and drinks, and we look forward to our next visit.
Went to Evening Star for Sunday brunch. Friendly servers but the service was extremely slow. Parties seated 15-20 minutes after we arrived had their food well before ours came out. The food was mediocre at best. A majority of people in our party barely ate half of their entrees and didn't ask for a to-go box. When the server rang up our bill I informed her I had a gift card so she deducted the balance from the bill but didn't return an itemized receipt so we guessed on how much we each owed. She ran my credit card for the balance. We were ready to leave so we did. Disappointing experience.
I've been coming here for years and it has always consistently impressed me with both great food and service. I had brunch with a couple old friends that were in town for the holidays and everything was great. I loved my pork hash and side of cheesy grits. This was a recommendation by our server Ginny who was very sweet and charming and provided wonderful service.
