We have always loved Founding Farmers in DC and Tysons so we decided to try the new location in Alexandria for Saturday breakfast. My husband made a reservation for 8:00am to be safe because FFs are always crowded. Doors didn’t open until after 8:00. Some staff walked in with us and other customers. Bakery was still setting up and we waited to be seated. We had already looked at the menu but when I tried to order found out there is a Mon-Fri breakfast menu and not available on Saturday. Chai bowl not available? We thought the breakfast menu was limited. Didn’t have a Chia latte either. Food was not very warm and just bland tasting for what we had experienced at other locations. Will not return to this location.
I ordered chicken noodle soup. I was told it should be about 10 minutes, unfortunately it took significantly longer than that. Not only that, the soup tasted like nothing, not even salt in the soup, and 2 bites of chicken. Biscuit was delicious. Soup 1, biscuit 9
A solid restaurant, servers are responsive. We visited during brunch so they were very busy. We order a variety of dishes. We were satisfied with most except the grits. The dishes with grits are not made in a southern style grit. It’s a completely different grit . So if you like southern style grits these grits will not be for you. The staff was very responsive in trying to acomódate after sending back the dishes.
This good food and service but parking can be a challenge for wheelchair bound.
I had a fantastic experience at Founding Farmers in Alexandria! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What really made the visit memorable, though, was our server Daniel—he was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Great atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional service. Highly recommend, and definitely ask for Daniel if you can!
Excellent menu selections. Has a separate breakfast menu.
This was my second time going to this Founding Farmers and it did not disappoint. The service was good and of course the atmosphere was great. The food was excellent. We had the chips and dips, the sliders and the wings and everyone enjoyed each selection. The entrees that we ordered were tasty as well. I will be back in the future!
I just love this restaurant; of course, I love all the Founding Farmers, but this one is so shiny and new and fabulous, I love it extra!
This place is fantastic!!!! Sunday brunch is Crazy good!
only complaint is no breakfast buffet like the Tysons Corner location has.

WOW we went for dinner on Saturday. They were busy so we hit the bar and had a few cocktails, the Barrel aged Old Fashion was great and my wife had the cucumber delight. The bar is beautiful and the service was friendly as a matter of fact the bartender was taliking to us by name by the time we moved to our table. Dinner was deliciuos we started with a tuna sushi roll, very fresh and flavorful, nice bite with the serrano chili. I love fresh pasta so I had the butternut squash & marscarpone ravioli, the brown butter sauce and sage was perfect. My wife went a little lighter with the Good All Greens salad and added fresh salmon. The server told us to save room for dessert so we did they best that we could. The dessert selection is over the top with fresh cream pies, chocolate and carrot cake, jefferson donuts, fresh baked cookies and homemade ice cream. We lucked out they were offering some of their summer blueberry features that actually start tomorrow. We had the blueberry sundae and the blueberry pie, and we bought another box of chocolate to take home. Looking for great scratch made food with service that feels great, you need to pay them a visit!!
I’ve now dined at Founding Farmers twice since they opened in March. I love the concept — locally sourced, thoughtfully prepared food — and I really wanted to love the experience. But unfortunately, both visits have left me underwhelmed, and oddly, for the same reason.
Both times I ordered a well-done burger, and both times it arrived undercooked. On my first visit, the team did the right thing — they re-fired the burger and kindly comped it, which I appreciated. On my second visit, there was some confusion between servers (who’s table is it, etc.), and again the burger came out undercooked. This time, the issue wasn’t really acknowledged. No explanation — I just waited while the situation sorted itself out.
While I understand opening kinks take time to iron out, it’s now been several months. A well-done burger isn’t complicated, and the inconsistency is disappointing — especially when it’s the same issue twice. The atmosphere was also hectic during my visit, which didn’t help (though that’s not necessarily the restaurant’s fault).
I hope the kitchen tightens up on the basics, because the space has promise, and I’d love to come back for the kind of quality I know they’re capable of delivering.
The food was ok but the cornbread came out half cooked, the banana pudding was terrible
The atmosphere is excellent, service was adequate, the gentleman who I think was the manager was very friendly. The food was very disappointing, especially for the cost. Some food was cold, others just seemed to not be the quality of the price paid. I felt I could get similar quality food at Cracker Barrel for a lot less than the $125 paid.
Thanks you Hannah for great service
